I am chasing a better ignition option then the spitfire coils I'm currently running. My SR22VET is making 485kW atw @35psi(precision 6262) using E85, the plug gap has had to be closed up to .016 to stop the spark blowing out.

I have found links online to the use of NGK Audi R8 coils as they fit like standard & produce results of upto 300hp per cylinder, has anyone used these before?

I have also found okada coils on line which look like split fires with a extra bit hanging out the top, again anyone used them?

I really want to keep the coil on plug style of system as I don't want leads & coils in my otherwise very neat bay.

Any other options or any info on either of these systems or option would be great to hear.

Cheers

Is the dwell set for the slitfire coils?

The tune was done by a reputable tuner with a lot of experience so would have to guess that it has been set to suit, I did put new standard coils in at one point recently to check it wasn't the splitfire & they struggled hard with the engine misfiring on low boost settings.

And I would assume dwell for standard & splitfires would be different explaining in part why the didn't preform as good as the splitfires

I would ask your tuner what the dwell settings are. If they are rather high, you need to upgrade to a more robust setup. A typical upgrade to an LSx coil setup would work. I'm running a factory igniter and AEM pencil coils, however I do not know what my dwell setting is. I'm going back for a race gas tune in a few months and I'm hoping I don't have blow out issues at 28-30psi of boost.

I want to keep all my ignition under the valley cover

AEM CDI pencil coils may be a good option for you then.

Quit being a fuckin' baby. Swap to LS2 truck coils. Run whatever plug gap you want. And be done with it.
The swap is a joke and the results are perfect..

Edit: A way to hide the leads is through the rear part of the cover like an SR20DE. The shorter the better though..
