Good to see someone that associates decent offsets with more than just drifting... How are the D2s working out for you?
AceInHole
08-24-2004, 12:22 AM
the other title i was thinking of was "steam roller edition 240sx".... :p
with a higher offset and a fender flare i could definitely get some 335's in there and maybe run 315 up front.... although the 275's fit so well I'll probably just run 275 all around next time. the 17x9's with a +6 offset are perfect.... with like 6 degrees of camber o.O

The D2's are working great, although I've recently swapped to the 7/5 kg springs. I'm now thinking that most of what I thought was "underdamped" with the 9/7 was simply tire deflection. With the Hoosiers on it feels rock solid on the 7/5's, so I may try swapping back to 9/7 before the autocross this weekend. The sidewalls on the Hoosiers are SOOO much stiffer than my Victoracers.... although they do seem more square on the rims than the 245 victos on 7.5's.
I really need to pull the rear or something, though. I might go at it with a hammer tomorrow or wednesday..... it's gonna be getting pretty hectic. Over winter it looks like I'll be investing in some widebody fenders :/

Ace -
How much room do you have between the rear tire and the coilover body???
I'd guess a 1/2" or so?
(Trying to estimate wider wheel fitment for my S14...I'd like to get my hands on a set of CCWs in similar widths.)
Oh yeah...and daytime pics of the whole car, dammit!
Thanks - Brian

FUCK THAT, the mudflaps seal the deal
aceinhole: are those replica cobra rims or factory ford equipment? Where can you get them in different offsets?

yeah, the wheels on the S14 are king while the S13's 3 inch wide hookers are queer. total opposite.

LOL...
take off those silly wheels and put them back on your 10-speed bike :p
to the thread starter:
oh and i really like the meaty tires. gives the car a macho look instead of those tiny rubberbands you see all the time
and your speedo must be off by like 10 mph :keke:

the tires don't fit well in the car on the way to races (NHIS is like 3 hours away). I use a trailer for the tires and tools.
LOVELY!!! I Love it ACE! Bring that beast down here some time next year... show our guys that 240sx ROCK! :D

sorry for long reply
yah its Jays old car
the wheels are off my Bosses drag racing supra. CCW skinnys. Holy crap its weird over 60mph on these things. the car is everywhere. swaying bak and forth.

i want to reaaaally bad... but it's my last year at UConn so I doubt I'll be able to get a week off to go to topeka (plus i should be starting an internship soon... ). Next year I'll definitely be hitting Nats, but I'll be there in Sept if I get lucky somehow...

i dunno if it'll push. kookaburraz was saying I'm gonna oversteer like crazy since the AS304's are so much stickier than the 3's. I guess I'll find out on Sat.
I dyno tune tomorrow or Friday with the MSD BTM and 3" test pipe. Looking at maxing out the T25.... I'm waiting for completion of sale of my z32 wheels + victoracers (should happen this weekend) to buy that T28.

Handles great... but had to really stiffen up the springs just to get it to stop rubbing. I'm running 9/7 kg springs with like an inch of preload all the way around (had just the rears preloaded before and was lifting rear tires going into corners!). I actually think I could be running stiffer springs than I am with these tires as the sidewalls are just that stiff!! With the AS03's in back and 04's in front it's very neutral.... and I would've dominated the event if I wasn't hitting the fender well where the car was previously hit (car had front end damage when I bought it). I BFHed it but a rain storm and tornado warning cancelled the rest of the event :(

i guess that means you have enough of it, eh? thats alot of meat... im having the same problems as well though, my fenders rub like crazy at autox's. i could either raise the car (pussy method :)), or go stiffer. i think ill go stiffer! :)
