Sometime around June I got a call from a good friend of mine who had been looking for a engine for me. He called me up and said that a s15 engine was in a county right next to mine. Well at the time I had a limited knowledge of the compatibilty and head ache issues of trying to install a S15 motor into a S13. He wanted 5000 dollars for the front clip which included the driveshaft and rear quaife LSD. The engine was clean, like maybe had only 3,000 miles on it clean. I could have bought but I would have been in over my head in bullshit trying to make it work. VTC I later found doesn't really work well on anything else except the S15 that it was made for. But I really didn't care about the engine. The real reason I came was to see the S14 I had heard about which had a RB25 in it. The garage opened up and boom there it was, S14 with S15 front end conversion, and it was wrecked! The story goes that he went to Ocean city MD for a car show and it was wet during the night up there, pulling out of a McDonalds he managed to lose control and smash into the back of his friends Eclipse. The Intercooler was a total loss as was one of the s15 front lights and mostly the entire front end was done. The subframe was bent up pretty bad. I just couldn't believe how fucked up the car was. It was depressing. Never give a 16 year old kid a S14 with a Skyline motor in it.

More like don't give a high horsepower car to an irressponsible person. Stupidity and carelessness is not always age dependent!

Doesnt matter how old you are... as long as you have self control and the ability to learn what you're dealing with... which equates to experience.

Maybe I should have just said he had no experience. That and I still am depressed about that car and it's not even mine.

I don't think 16 yearolds should be given high performance cars either. I'm now nearly 20. Over the past 3+ years I have seen my driving skill increase by leaps and bounds. Not only am I a more capable driver, I am also MUCH more responsible on the streets. I cringe at the things I used to do on the streets which I know reserve strictly for the track.

I think most everyone can remember stupid stuff they did with their cars when we were younger, but i can't help but think raising the driving age would only make the people doing stupid stuff slightly older.

nah its not a 950rwhp car
its more like a 700rwhp car or so... i know because he regularly posts on supraforums, and the whole buildup article (done by SP i think) was on there too a few years ago

plus from what i gathered he races shifter karts and a bunch of other shit since he was REALLY little (as if 15 isnt already super little)

his car is green, i think his handle is supraman777 or something like that

my bad on the supra, he was maybe talking about how thats what they are trying to break? it was a long time ago on the radio. i also dont care how old he is, or how much skill he has, cars with that much power straight up scare me! haha.
it is also are driver training like most of you have stated. how did you get to be a good driver? through practice. nobody at any age is automatically a good driver(michael schumaker excluded)america has absolutely terrible driver training and requirements for a liscense.

Me personaly, I think it has alittle to do with age and a few other things. I think almost everyone will agree with me that experience does come with age. Although, I think maturity(sp?) has alot to do with it also. I mean, a friend of mine (he's 16 btw) as a N/A Supra that just recently he added a turbo. He hasn't been in ANY accidents. When I ride with him, he doesn't try to act badass, or take stupid risks/chances. IMO, it isn't just about age, but maturity(sp?) also. just my $.02.

That is very true. I work for Volkswagen Of America and there was this kid that his daddy bought him a brand new R32 (VR6-4Motion)= BEAST!. Anyway he was 16 also and he brought the car in saying that it would not move. We looked at it, to find out that the kid had burnt the clutch up in 4000 miles. We later found out that he was tring to impress people at his school by trying to do all wheel drive burn out. BUT that car has a ESP and ASR system. So he was a stupid kid that had no experience. So i hear that man...

I totalled a few cars when I was 16-18. I think everyone goes through it. I just pray that its not at the expense of somebody else.

Ken doesn't deserve a car! He's only allowed to drive on a track for a reason! heh heh heh...

theres this one kid at the HS i went to last year. He had a brand new 03 Mach 1 Mustang. He did a burn out and some how lost control doing a burn out (?) and went into a tree. Next week, I see him with another Brand new Mach 1 in a different color.

hmmm sounds like a kid down here in calvert county MD. kid a few years younger than me was a senior, lived with his grandparents and grandma bought him a used mach 1 for christmas. he wrecks it, can't rememebr the details if it was his fault or not, but probably was, and 2 months later she bought him a NEW one this time as a grad gift. possibly a coincedence with the same cars but I wasn't complaining considering I was the salesman for both deals :p

When I turned 16 someone I know (who was in his 30's) told me to get a cheap P.O.S. for my first car because it was bound to get messed up. He was right.

If I ever have kids, their 17th birthday present is going to be a day at Skip Barber.
