Ok I have a 96 240sx and the tach is not working. I have pulled the entire cluster out and check it on the back where the screws go in. I am getting good ground and good ignition power. There is a third screw hole that is labeled TAM I guess that's my signal wire. Does anyone know what voltage is suppose to be at this spot? I am assuming it will fluctuate if it is my signal wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A wiring fishers of the tach circuit would be nice too.

If it's not working at all, it's probably just dead. I had this issue with my S14 when I first got it. Just replace the tach with a good one and be on your way.

It goes past 8k so I don't really know if it's the tach or not and I don't know where to find one that's not $3-400 Nissan can't even get the part anymore and I don't wanna waste 300-400 dollars if that's not it. You know where to get a cheap one?

eBay only has the tachs that are aftermarket that bolt on to the dash. I have a crackles dash and refuse to mess it up with a bulky tach I'm looking for one that will go in the place of the bad one.

Gawd quit being so damn thick,
You buy the used oem s14 clusters on ebay for like $140, then swap out the tach or the entire cluster. This thread is lame, you didn't even look on ebay did you?

Actually I did but didn't look at the whole cluster still expensive when I don't even know that is the problem!
