hey everyone
so i just got a set of 50mm over fenders for my sc300, but my wheel are a little wider then planed and stick out a bit. I've been doing my research trying to find out how to make them wider and all i keep hear is "just bow them". i haven't seen any real diy on how to do this just a Facebook post but not sure if it right.i need my overfender to be at around 90MM. my question is how do you bow them? is it the same as just rolling a fender with a Eastwood? any link or help will mean a lot to me and if you don't have anything good to say please keep it moving. thanks

If you already drilled and installed the overs this wont really help you, but you move the bottom portions closer to each other like pinching the bottom of the arch of the wheel well and it pushes the top out. I don't know if that is a good enough description.
If you dont want to do this you could just get upper camber wishbones and add some negative camber to get it to clear if its close.

no i haven't put them on yet, but i did do a test fit( i tape them on)and need to get them to about 90mm and i dont want to drill the over fender on i want to bondo it. i am already running camber (-10) the wheel are 18x12-70
you description was a bit hard to understand but thank you for trying.
now maybe this mite help me understand what you trying to say, if i "drill" it on can i roll it with a east wood? the overfender are frp.

No, you cannot roll FRP, that would just result in cracking.
What OBEEWON was trying to say is since most overfenders are riveted on, you would space the rivets at the bottom of the fender closer to the centerline of the wheel than the ones along the top, physically pulling the bottom towards the wheel CL.
This would 'pooch' out the wheel arch at the top/middle of the arch, resulting in a bowed fender and giving you more room for the tire to tuck.

Over fenders + 40mm fender flares = ultimate JDM sc300 street cred and attention.
Adding an additional 40mm is ridiculous. Also if you bow them, you create a single point of tension where everything bows around, now can you imagine what would happen if you were filling up your gas and rested your ass on those "Bowed" over fenders by accident?

About halfway down the page they describe the process.
But I digress, I do somewhat agree with Ilya, 40mm seems like a lot to bow, especially with FRP, since it fractures under stress.
I must qualify that I have never done anything of the sort, so I may be off base here, and it may be totally possible.

Bruv if you need another 90mm bowing it won't help you. But what you can do is mold it on as normal and add a ZG fender flare on top of the over fender like the yellow car. You can mold it as well and paint all one color.

I have 18x12-20 and even 50mm overs are not close to fitting without more camber than I want.

they describe the process on each picture from what i been seeing and i seen other guy bow them out here but never really say how it done -http://www.superstreetonline.com/features/1410-1996-nissan-240sx/ this guy bow his to 90mm and his wheel spec are close to mine so i know it can be done just don't know how. i don't know anyone who done this before so i dont want to f*ck it up

i dont need another 90 mm i need about 30 to 40 mm so about a 1in to 1 1/2
and i am not a big fan of fender flares since the sc body line are so strong i want to keep that "stock" look

No, that is specifically for the Z32.
Even 40mm is a lot. Its almost double what the fenders give you. I know what you mean about the body lines on the SC. Maybe you can get a body shop to stretch the overs a bit? The only other option is to sell those and go with Vertex Ridge which might give you a bit more space, but that will suck since you need to run the entire kit.

yeah i dont want to buy the whole kit it like 3k compare to 500 for the overfenders. the vertex ridge kit is also 50mm if i am not mistaken. the guy that going do the work for me think he can do it but like me dose not know how.
as for the lip it look just like the ones for the sti and i've seen one guy with a yellow z32 say he use the sti one

I could be very wrong about that, but he said it was for the Z32. I didn't realize Ridge was only 50mm as well. That sucks, maybe its the BN that is wider, i forget. LOL I've helped in no way.

The best way is to section/split it in several places and pull it out, keep it in place with metal straps then fill the gaps with fiberglass. After that you remove the metal straps and fill the holes. If you do it another way the part will be stressed and want to get wavy or bow as the car flexes and the fiberglass shrinks a few months or years later. It really depends if you want to do it right or not and for most people on zilvia that is a definite no.

from all of my research (5+ years) i haven't found one that is wider then 50mm and as for the lip maybe i wrong maybe they do make it also for the z32 ? but i am 100% sure its they make it for the sti and you have been helpful

as if the overfender was metal? like they do for metal widebody ? i never thought of it in that way but you are right its going be alot more labor then i thought if i go down that road.

Yeah, the the front bumper is really big/wide, that would be a risk but you could always sell it.

We were able to gain an additional 40mm out of an origin type 3 overfender by bowing. It was for an s13 coupe but i'm sure the same result can be achieved. We mounted the fender in all of the upper locations then pushed the two lower portions of the fender towards each other until we had the desired amount of clearance. I had my friend hold it while i placed a self tapping screw (removed and replaced with rivets) to hold it in place. The origin FRP is pretty thin and flexible so if yours is thicker i would recommend using a heat gun to warm up the glass first. Hope this helps.

let me get this right , do you mean like this ? the overfender not too thick, another idea i was thinking about was mounting just the top part and rolling it with a bat or newpaper so it pull out a little. wish there was a real diy or youtube video so i can know how to do it right the first time. your idea is very helpful also

^^^ Yes. That's what I was trying to explain.
But the rolling/pulling idea wont work since its fiberglass and not metal. It will just break.

If you try to roll or pull your over fender it will just crack. If you somehow get it to not crack there's a good chance it will just retake its original shape once the pressure is taken off of it.
Also yes you've got the idea correct. When you push those angles together it bows the fender arch on the over.

well that make sense, i am just thinking how much of a b*tch it going be to put it on. i am going need a few of my buddies to help me with that. now another question would be should i correct the camber before or after bowing the overfenders?

Set the suspension and alignment exactly how you want to run it before you install, that way your creating the fitment you will need.
