About me! How old did you get into cars?

What is up guys! Im a 16 year old kid from lacey,washington! I own a 1990 s13 Hatchback swapped with a s14 70,000 mile ka24de. Question for you guys. What age did you seriously get into cars? If you did start later in life, do you regret not starting earlier? Did you jump straight into S-chassis's,If not what started you, and what got you into S-Chassis's?

Joined the Marine Corps and spent my teenage years in Japan. Started with Japanese women then got an A31 cefiro to go see those women. Driving I noticed the Skyline, 180SX, Silvia etc, and one night I stumble on a parking area anyone raced. And it started Traded my A31 RB20E/AT for a RB25DET/MT and started tuning and it grew from there.

In the beginning, I was pretty into Hot Wheels and Micro Machines. My Dad subscribed to Road & Track and I picked one up around 7 years old. Before long, I had the specs of every 90's era sports car committed to memory.

I would pick up the Auto Trader at the corner store weekly. My Dad and I would go out together on weekends, listening to Car Talk on the radio, searching for the right candidate of a project car. After looking at and researching about MGBs, Triumph TR6s, Porsche 914/944s/ Fiero GTs, VW Karmann Ghias, I decided that the first generation Z car had the best looks and most potential. I signed up for HybridZ forums and sucked up as much knowledge about those cars as I could.
Used all of my life's birthday present money to buy a 1976 280Z at 14.
Got my permit on my 15th birthday. Got my license on my 16th birthday.
Bought my second car, a 1991 S13 240sx from a friend when I was 17. Joined Zilvia a year later.

13 years later, the Z is gone :(
but the S13 is still with me!

Rebuilt my first motor back when I was 17, again with the teaching of my father.

Grew up watching my dad race Dirt Mods, Grandpa owned a salvage yard. i liked watching my grandpa weld and my favorite hobby was throwing rocks through the windows of cars in the salvage yard till my grandpa got frustrated and got a big ass school bus with tons of windows for me to throw rocks through.
Despite my fathers advice to get something with a V8 i became fascinated with turbos riding in my friends TT MKIV supra through highschool.
Got my 240 at 16 boosted and blew it up by 17, built motor and turbo again by 18/19
After popping that first motor my dad suggested to do a V8 but there werent really many people doing V8 swaps 8 years ago and i aready had all the KA-t parts
I'm 22 now. Awesome hobby
Met bushido. I never really liked to admit seeing the picture of his car on p45r's after he had the first molds casted made me buy p45r's. Ironically enough it was before i met him/knew he lived in town a mere 4 miles from my house.

you know, at this point it would probably easier to just do it OUT of the car. this doesnt sound romantic at all. come on man, if you're going to subject a woman (or women) to such extreme measures - at least do it with some class. :-P


my method, which i have no intention of ever using again in this lifetime, is as follows:

- both front seats, full tilt forward
- rear seats down
- cargo cover was removed, resting against the front seats
- hatch is part open
- pillows + blanket

hmm. nowadays, this seems like a lot of work. just get a motel. but back then we were young, willing and able. plus, being parked on a mountain vista really sealed the deal. mind you, this was not a mere 5 minutes of fun... this was easily over 1 hour. easily.
