so i bought a gt2860rs .60 compressor side with a T3 flanged .63 turbine side with a 4 bolt discharge. the 4 bolt housing isnt going to work with my setup, and i found a used housing with a T3 flanged .82 housing off a gt2871r. my question is how will that spool? and just curious if anyone has ran a similar setup. i contacted Garrett directly and they said it should be ok but i thought i would just ask on here. Thanks

Spool will be terrible. Was over 4k rpm for peak boost

yeah expect it to be more of a "peaky" turbo with that size aspect ratio. It sounds like you have an oddly pieced together turbo setup that you're trying to run. T3 flanged on internally gated smaller framed turbos never made a whole lot of sense to me.

My two cents. If you're concerned with spool, and you want to run a smaller framed turbo like the GT2060RS that you've mentioned, then I would switch up the T3 flanged manifold you have (unless for some reason you're very attached to it, then tell me to go pound salt), and go back to a T2. This will allow you many more options with turbine housings, so you can select the A/R best suited for your engine size, and use your current downpipe. Again...just my two cents.

its a extenally gated gt28rs and yea its kind of a funky setup. top mounted t3 manifold. what ill probably end up doing is spending the $250 and buy the correct .63 housing.
and yea ive been looking to go back to a bottom mount setup with a t2 flange, just have to find someone to trade all my stuff off to is the problem.

IMO for a stock internals, use a gt2871r bottom mount on the stock manifold.

What manifold are you going to use? Some odd bottom mount T3 manifold?

If you're running top mount, ditch the tiny turbo and buy something like a GTX3067R.

I'm using a mazworx t3 top mount. And I would go with a gtx if I had $1500 bucks to drop on a snail but I got a really good deal on the gt28.
