If this is a 1974, it has to be a 260Z. Good price. Any rust on the frame rails at all? And how is the rust over all?

Guy I bought it from said it was a 280z and it came with 280z badging, but could be a 260z. I'm not sure how to make the distinction.

Car has some rust, but rails and strut towers are good. Someone else also asked for the pictures, so I've included them here.

Based on the door latch it looks like a 280z. The 240 and 260 had a different setup on the b pillar. Any pictures of the rear interior or the dash vin plate? The 280 had much taller strut towers in the back than the 240 and 260 did, and the 240 and 260 vin plates were shorter than the 280. A 240/260 vin plate will be too short to go from rivet hole to rivet hole on a 280 dash. Are you 100% certain the title is for a '74?

Yeah, title says '74. I might have the original dash around somewhere so I can check the vin plate size

1974 was the only year for 260z, early 260z looks more like 240z, late 260z looks more like 280z. If the title is 74 model year it's definitely a 260z.

My though is that someone has vin swapped this 280z chassis with a 260 vin/title. From what I am aware of the only difference to the late model 260 was the bumpers. The rear strut towers and door latches remained the same as early models. I could be wrong, but from my experience I believe this to be true. The stock dash would prove either way. Another tell to what chassis this is, is to check out the rear diff. The 280z had the larger r200 diff while the 240 and 260 had an r180.

*edit* It also has a 280z hood on it. I missed that obvious bit.
