****SOLD!!!!!!!!!****** as of 6-28-15
**IN THE PROCESS OF BEING SOLD on Sunday. If it doesn't work out, I'll let everyone know.***
I've had this car for 11 years now and don't have the time or know how to keep up with its repairs. I drive this lady back and forth to work. It only has 135K miles. It is a fixer upper though. I will list many of the known repairs that it needs:
Oil leak, power steering leak, passenger door lock mechanism is broken (door wont open), passenger side window needs track adjustment, middle dash (where stick is) needs repair/cracked, passenger side blinker needs new blinker wiring and cover (I have cover but it is cracked), a small bump on the passenger side (could be knocked back out) from my lovely neighbor, and needs a major paint job!
This car runs and has been a great little car for many years. I believe most everything is stock. I bought it from my cousin in 2004. It does have a cold air intake by Injen. It has a fully functional moon and sunroof. There have been no wrecks.
I've kept up with the usual maintenance such as oil changes and the car is currently state inspected/passed. The blinker issue happened recently so that needs to be fixed to pass the next one. It has two brand new back tires 2015, and a starter installed last month. It has a Interstate battery 2014.
This car is hard to find. It has a rare front end and this car has such potential!!! Not to mention it is a MANUAL transmission which makes it even more rare. I just used this gal to get back and forth to college and work. I think she deserves to be brought back to her original glory.
I'm asking 3,000 or best offer.

PM Sent with phone number. I'm looking for a good chassis to freshen up with the stuff from my car, I just had an accident and would like to switch into a chassis with a sunroof. I love these cars and have owned mine since 2006. If you want this car to go to a good home where she can get the care and attention she needs and disserves look no further.
Please get back with me I have cash in hand and I'm in San Antonio so I can easily make the trip to come get the car.

Alright guys, I've received a TON of responses. I'm going to just leave it up to the highest offer. PM me your offers only and I'll respond to the best. I have several people in Houston asking and nearby cities. Apparently I low balled the price. Hit me up guys it's STILL FOR SALE.

Owner probably realized what the market actually is for the car and is bumping up the price.
OP, set your final price. If you want to auction your car off to the highest bidder, advertise your car on eBay. Not Zilvia.

in his defense, OBO(or best offer) really means, he can sell it for the best offer, his asking price is not a binding agreement of any sort. and if people are allowed to "test the waters" why cant this guy take offers via PM?

Because its the rules. If you could take best offer everybody would be like $1 obo knowing damn well they would never take $1 but still technically follow he rules. If it was up for grabs to the highest bidder there is a site for that, its called ebay.

I would definitely be pissed if I came to a seller meeting their asking price and they say to me "Sorry man, got a lot of responses and I'm now holding on until I get the highest bid, and I wont say what the highest bid currently is." Basically telling you that you need to blind bid higher then asking price with zero context as to the current status of the bidding.
On Zilvia, OBO generally means bids that fall below the asking price. Especially because many people hike up their prices above market average and force you to haggle the way down. But it is a valid method of selling, and takes a keen buyer to know when it is worth it or not to meet asking prices.
That's my two cents on this matter.
Good luck with this, however it pans out.

I wonder if the seller is going to come back, post it for $6K, and then wonder why no one is biting.

Sorry guys. I just got out of work and haven't had time to respond to anyone until now.
I apologize for not having good car selling etiquette. Honestly this is my first vehicle I've ever tried to sell. I've had this car since I was 21 (11 years). I'm trying to get enough money to put a down payment on a new car so any more that I can get helps tremendously. I got so many offers back to back. Picking one guy is difficult to be fair. I figured if someone wanted it enough, they'd know the value and shoot me an offer in order to land it.
Again, sorry if I was not being fair.

When you have quite a few 3K cash offers, I'm going to avoid the one that was rude :-/

What a stupid thread...
Dude calm down...to be realistic there were plenty of people (including myself) that contacted her before you popped off with "sorry boys, its sold" before ever talking to OP. The odds of you ever having it where slim to none. You really should be the last person upset. At the end of the day its just a 20 year old car, no reason to get pissed at the world.
