Is it over 25 years old?

Then nope.

I wondered how many days after the Stagea Jalopnik article this would be posted.

You can Kit car or VIN shuffle either one is a federal offense if you get caught, at the very least they take your car, at the worst, Car plus fine plus jail...because of a fucking station wagon.

This is what happened to all those sketch registered R34s that were around for awhile.

i now see why you were thinking about people who just talk talk talk

OP dunno who you plan on importing with but even doing it solo you're looking at around 3-7k additional to your "9.8k". 5-12 through third party.

You can also try to import as a track vehicle, but you need to meet requirements like the vehicle being modified beyond use for the street and you'll have to export or destroy the car after a couple of years. Add about $6k to the cost of the car and that's about what it'd cost you; that's if you get written approval by the EPA and NHTSA as well as any other local government agency. You cannot import, then turn around and sell a car on this track basis. Buyer beware the "dealers" and sellers claiming cars newer than 25years like s15's and r34's legal. Even the ones that have made the list of ELIGIBLE for import will be stupid expensive to modify for compliance, because parts used by ICI's and RI's to modify them have to be new, oem if possible, and warrantied (so, expensive).

There are other legal ways to import cars newer than 25 years, but mainly require a lot of money and/or proof for one of the exemptions. ALL vehicles must fall under all three of these agencies legal requirements to legally import them:

Customs and Border Patrol:

EPA laws:

People are gonna get the 25 year rule turned to the 35 year rule screwing themselves with gray market on an open forum.
