My mom had her tubes tied one day and I got stationed in China. If you squint a little bit it's like Japan. So I picked up a 240 and decided to body kit it up and import a Ford SHO© V6. The plan was a #MAXIMUMATTACK® build for the #JOYOFMACHINE®. I was going to build it but I decided stock like a rock so I bought motor mounts but they don't fit. I'm not a rich man but i sprung for Isis suspension what heim grease should I use? Suddenly, the war on terror I'm a hero, then I got re-stationed at my mom's house and she keep yelling at me. My PTSD flares up when I'm on the toilet and we ran out of paper so I was going to use Modified Magazine, but then I caught a glimpse of a machine that had all the shapings of my original mind meld. I waited till everything dried and pulled up my pants. Craigslist has so many deals on things but I wanted to do it right so I asked my Jewish buddy to pray and make it kosher for me to go ahead and 240 again. Basically my question is do all girls have peperoni under their pasties or is this a new thing while I was stationed in JapanChina™? I'm not racist so its the same thing. I almost went drifting so I'm probably ok at it. I just need more akerman®. Before you flame me let me say this...walk a mile in my shoes and thank me for my service. But you are correct about the Germans. Everything recognizable from that era is exploding. Audi Coupe, E24, E30, Evo II 190, 911, 951 etc.

Japanese 70/80's cars remain in the toilet. MKII Supra? MKIII? Celia, Prelude, S12, S13, ect. Even high demand cars like the CRX and AE86 seemed to have peaked years ago and interested has just faded. I don't see people blowing their wads over a clean CRX today like they did in 2004. Most would rather have a WRX or Evo.

I've argued this many times in other threads. The vast majority of Japanese cars, people want them because of their value, nothing more. 240 guys want a 240 because it's cheap. If a 240 cost as much as MKIV Supra, no one would care.

Thats the big issue. Someone will spend $35k for a '71 Camaro because they WANT THAT CAMARO. They won't go "wtf, a new Camaro is 10x better for the same price!!"

The only people spending that coin on a 240 is because they want scene points and can't get that with a Stock XZY car for the same money, but 240 guys will be all "OMFG HOT ROAD BRIDE WORK WHEELZ 180SX BROAH!!!!

I support drifting and the s-chassis scene in many ways. I also do my part in not supporting the spread of shit boxes by acknowledgement. Instead let us simply say that there are car enthusiasts, car mechanics, car engineers, and car supreme dictators. The dictators produce the parts and cars (nissan totota chevrolet etc...) and are combined efforts of multiple humans, usually involve statistical analysis for best profit margin etc... Not necessarily best performance/dollar ratio.

The car engineers are sole or nearly individual operations when combined form "teams" or "shops" that may produce a higher quality product than a dictator, due to lower statistical reliance on profit margins and more focus on parts that perform specific tasks.

Neither the dictators, nor engineers care about us. We are just rats, the so called "lowest common denominator" whether we like it or not. Unless you own a few million dollars in machinery that isnt going to change. You cannot single handedly fabricate a hundred identical parts that have been analyzed and tested vigorously without these people and machinery.

So this brings us to the mechanics, and enthusiasts. Mechanics will work on their own cars. Enthusiasts bring their shit to mechanics. Both rely on the dictators and engineers for parts, quality, testing, mass fabrication, etc...

And that is where genetics and learning behavior meet marketing and advertising. The novice young enthusiast tends to side with brands, labels, artwork, flash and shine. What they see other people do. The mechanics will have more experience and know better; however they too are at the mercy of the engineers and dictators for parts supply for the most part. Because multiple companies tend to produce the same parts (you can get a manifold from SSautochrome or full race) competition and pricing, sales and advertising, create a soup of bad quality parts, which hurts the sales of good parts (full race sells fewer manifolds because people buy the cheaper versions) and so fewer high quality parts are produced, and so forth, which brings us to fully magan racing suspension equipped S-chassis. The role genetics plays is enormous; individuals without knowledge of diet, exercise, engineering concepts, education, will have less dollars, and buy cheaper parts, of course. So if a vehicle is cheap to begin with (define cheap 3k?) it bridges the gap for more cheap parts and un-educated purchases.

So I think the solution is clear. DNA testing before you buy a 240sx. /thread

What I'm saying here is that not all S13/S14 guys buy the cars due to their lower costs. Some folks just like them. The FRS was (of course) more expensive but that wasn't why I decided to come back to Nissan. Money wasn't a factor for me, I just like the smelly, old, shitty-tweed-interior'd S13. I don't really know why. My money definitely goes further on the S13 but it's not going towards 'OMFG HOT ROAD BRIDE WORK WHEELZ 180SX BROAH'. Sounds like you have beef with Damon, though.

To take this all a step further, I'd argue that it's the NEED for dudes to go scoop up and FRS, RocketBunny kit, and stupidly wide wheels that make the car community more stupid. The same can be said about all 'show-off' builds.

I have a very hard time liking any sports car post 1980 without independent rear suspension. Camaro/Firebird, Mustang, etc. suspension design was stuck in the dark ages. At 3500# it's gonna handle like crap with THAT suspension design. Off the line stomp doesn't matter much once you hit the curves.
