Ok, I have a friend who is having problems with his ride. It runs when it is cold, not well tho, but after it warms up, it starts to miss. I checked the cold start injector, maf, tps, spark and sparkplugs. They all were in good condition . The injectors sound good after checking it with my stethoscope. It has the classic style distributor that is drivin by the cam. Engine speed remained the same when i pulled our Number 4 cylinder spark wire out, A.k.a power balance test. pulling out the spark wire from the Number 3 2 and 1 showed that those cylinders are in good condition . Compression test shows that 3 and 4 have low compression, 30 psi, while 2 and 1 show good, 120 psi. Thus far, it is the only problem that I found. I belive it has bad valves as their is no smoke coming out of the engine. My only question is, why does the car run when it is cold but tends to die when it gets warm. Whit bad compression, it should run horribly when hot or cold, right? Or could the engine have other problems that mask the low compression when cold.
