Okay some of you may have seen my previous thread about 3D printed catch cans. I had a friend printing stuff for me but i have bought my own 3D printer. Currently wondering what things us s-chassis owners need aside from custom pieces?

I however am confined to an 8"x8"x7" build area

Things I have currently thought of
Baffled catch can that bolts to front of the block
Clip in cup holder in place of ash tray
I know there are some in production, based on complexity and print time i don't know if it will be worth it to 3d print these
Dual din delete panel for gauges/turbo timer/boost controllers/etc that can be clipped in

My printer prints in a much higher resolution than this

Catch can hopefully to mount like so

a new set of those white clips that holds the brake lines in place would be nice. i don't really know what we could use for our community. perhaps a brand new set of 240s from the production line would be nice too.

^those brake lines, switches for the windows, ash tray, radio bezel, some clips for like some OEM aero, those push button clips for the interiors. the clips that hold the spark plug wires in line that come off the valve cover gasket.

1. Dizzy cover,
2. various maf adapters,
3. coil spring/seat isolators with various ID for different coil makes,
4. side mirror interior corner cover (preferably to house a tweeter ;)
5. Cluster shroud button blanks
6. Interior Door handle surround trim

JMO if you're making more than just a few of anything 3d printing isn't the best method of manufacture. You could print a plug, finish it, and then make a silicone mold that you cast into. That would be the real way to go if you want to make a decent run on anything. I also think few here have an idea of the limitations of printed "parts" (prototypes) and their durability so the suggestions I see already are not very feasible.

Taking a second look at the picture of the print, you have a LOOOOOOOONGGGGGGGGGGGG way to go of adjusting and test printing your 3D printer before you can consider a 3D printed piece to be of good quality. Unless you use some acetone as a finish.

Good luck, cant wait to see what you're able to spit out of that thing!

Yeah it takes a really long time and the desktop printers are very finicky. I've learned a few tricks that help but it's still a gamble. I always coat finished prints inside and out with the acetone slurry before sanding. It helps immensely in the strength of the finished product.

i second the idea of convertiable rear window tracks/sliders as they are discontinued there is deffinitly a market for them!

S14 RADIO BEZEL ( idk why im yelling)

S14 radio surround

S14 dash vent (the long front one that always snaps

The other guy is right about the clips for brake lines and such

You could probably make good money on center caps for various wheels

Maybe some center console stuff like cupholders and shit

Maybe some gauge pods and other things designed to go where the heater controls are or where the radio would be

I rough modelled this on my ipad, i have a cleaner version on my computer hoping to make it clip in from the back side for a clean flush mount look. Will probably offer options for boost controllers/turbo timers and whatever else people may want on a made to order bases
Printer gets here friday

what printer did you go with? I have been eyeing a few too but finding one that has everything I want at a reasonable price is hard. Then newer types that stratasys offer look promising for injection mold making.

I bought a Wanhao duplicator i3. I have already purchased several upgrades for it to install once i recieve it. Longer/better X/Y axis bearings, better extruder gear, gino pads and a glass build plate are the big ones. Have a roll of ABS and PETG to print with. Probably going to go with PETG until i building an enclosure.
Size constraits 8"x8"x7"

how about internal switch of the turn signal/headlight stalk mechanism. That breaks so often or just wears out over time.. not sure if nissan carries it anymore.

If you're not going to angle the gauges why bother 3d printing it? Get a pirated copy of a real solid modeling program or at least a student license if you want to do any good. Solidworks or auto desk inventor are good options

Angled gauges is obviously happening. My ipad software is minimal. My computer software is muc better.

Still working out dimensions and materials. The lower part has a flat recessed panel that bolts in from the back to allow you to mount switches/whatever.
The weird lower part messed up due to support material, it was supposed to be a recessed "S13"

At the top of the windshield were the trim meets the edge on the verts, there's a plastic trim piece that breaks. Also the pin guides for the convertible top in the sameish location. I've seen some great ideas on here 2 that I like are dizzy cover and rear sliders for convertible window tracks. Hope to see more progress on this 3d stuff.
