Years ago, I bought a fidanza flywheel and spec clutch from a guy on the forum and I finally decided to install it because I am also installing a head gasket and the bolts are super easy to get to. Anyways, I was trying to put the flywheel on, but it just wouldnt slide on smoothly. I tried the old one and with a little wiggle, it went on smooth.

The etching on the front of the flywheel is NIS13 6848. I cant find anything on the internet to reference it against.

I'm pretty sure that I got taken advantage of, I just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before and can hopefully clarify

can you post pictures further away? there are screws on that friction plate, looks like a real fidanza to me. you can purchase new friction plates for the flywheel, cost about $90 iirc.

a ka one:

Well, the friction plate isnt what I was worried about, but I do see what your concern was. Whenever I try and install the flywheel over the alignment circle mount area.. For some reason it wont slide on smoothly. If you guys think it is a real fidanza.. ill keep trying..

I was trying to tighten those 4 bolts little by little in a cross pattern to ease it on.. and still didnt go..

Looks like it doesn't even have location for the knock pin....

The old flywheel doesn't have a hole for a pin either. The crank does in fact have all the bolt holes plus a pin hole..

Showing bolt holes and pin hole. The part I marked in red is what I'm having trouble getting it slide over. I've done clutch changes before numerous times, I just wanted to make sure this is the correct part. If it is, I'll make it work, but if it isn't I'll have to look in to another option.

I can't find any criteria on the part number on the flywheel is my concern.

Which pins are you referring to? the bolts? or the pins on the actual flywheel where to clutch bolts on?

Thanks for the responses. That is pretty much what I was looking for to see if anyone else has a flywheel with the same letters and numbers engraved. If that is the case, I'm being a girl and need to manhandle it a little. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

The alignment pins

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are referring to the pins to align the clutch on to the flywheel right?

I am having issues bolting the flywheel on.

pick that shit up and weight it. is it lighter or heavier then stock. this will answer your question.

take a little bit of emory cloth and run it around the inside bore of the fw it may be that it was put on a little crooked once so there is a ridge in the bore. get all 8 bolts started and an even amount of turns then give it a little tap to the center with a dead blow hammer usually always got it lined up for me.

The way those washer marks are looking the FW wasn't flush (they all dig to the same side meaning that they were impacting unevenly)

That is the same engraving as my Fidanza and the friction ring and hardware look the same.

there are visual differences to the flywheels, additionally he is asking if it was for the correct motor not if it was a stock flywheel.

LOL

have you tried putting them back to back (your old one and new one) too see how much variation between the sizes of the center holes, and to make sure the bolt holes are the same... That's what I'd do before I tried to force it on there again. Then do what the head said when trying to install it.

Yes, I tried that before I posted on the forums. That is why I was wondering if I had the right flywheel. I bought this thing over 3 years ago.

Thanks for the advice, I actually did that and it slid on fine. I knocked down the inside bore MAYBE a thousandth of an inch. Slid on fine. Thanks for all the help.

I had one, had the same issue with it also.
I had to shave down the inside bore a few mm to get it to slide on.

Instructions also say you can heat it up on a hot pan, and then install it quickly.
For people that may have this issue in the future, now you know.
