Im looking to switch to a different, more comforatble coilover for my daily driver s13. It seems like a lot of people recommend the tein basic and megan streets as the most comfortable budget coilovers. Well the basics have gotten replaced with the street basis and i cant find any reviews on them. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.
Because i know someone will bring it up, i dont want struts and springs. And i dont want to spend $1000+ on coilovers for a non-performance-oriented car.

again with the stupid threads.. jesus christ... did you used to own a honda??
hahahah
anywho.. ive had tein basic. and yes they are comfortable. they feel like a lowering spring and strut combo. which is pretty much what they are. they is no adjustment on these coil over. and they still use the rubber upper strut mounts.

Funny you call me stupid when you clearly lack reading comprehension skills. I did not ask about the basics. I asked about the model that replaced them, the street basis. I would like to know how perform, specifically in relation to the old basic model.
The basics sound like what I'm looking for, i dont want to buy used. So the street basis is my next option, i just want to make sure they are going to suit my needs.
I plan on using the top hats and camber plates from my current coils if they'll work.

.....Errrr, he technically didn't call you stupid, he labeled your 'THREAD" as stupid
.......And you talking about reading comprehension skills. It's like the tea calling the kettle black....

Yeah I'll probably just buy them, i cant imagine they'd make any drastic changes, im just leery about buying a product with 0 reviews on it. Especially now that im black.
I found plenty of reviews when I did a quick google search. They're cheap coilovers. If you want quality - pay for it.

Congratulations RalliartRsX for providing the most useful and contributing post that Zilvia will see today.. Pat yourself on the back there guy, you did a thing
OP if youve liked the reviews on the old tein basics, im sure you'll like the street basis. Ive owned neither, but have rode in cars with both. Like zenki-s13 said if you do get them do us a favor and right up a review!

Yea for other cars. Well i guess a miata review wouldn't be too far off.
It seems like you're trying to say tein coilovers are low quality. That's quite a statement to make. Care to divulge how you came to that conclusion?
I didn't come to that conclusion, and I wasn't referring to the entire brand. Tein basi(c)s are cheap coilovers.

I've had Tein Basics they're shitty.
Ride height adjustability is poor and only done through preload (which changes how the suspension dampens and distributes weight).
IMO any coil over that is dual adjustable for ride height (through preload and shortening the length of the coilover body) is ideal. 3 way adjustable with damping adjustment is best.
If you have those 3 and spend 1k on a set of coils you can't go wrong.

I had the Street Advances on my old miata and didn't like them. Felt soft and underdamped, even with a light car like an NA miata on the stiffest setting. I'm on BC BR-Types with my track s13 and I can tell you they ride very well and control the weight of the car sooooo much better. Different cars, I realize, but it's a better comparison for you than nothing. BC's are the minimum I recommend to anyone. Fortune Auto if you can save up a little more.
