I'm pretty sure all 97-98 wiper amps had the intermittent function. All that is needed add the intermittent wiper function to a base model is to add the SE/LE wiper stalk. I did some research on it earlier as I want to convert my 97 base model eventually, but it just doesn't rain enough out here in socal for me to really make it a priority lol

The 95-96 base models need the SE/LE or kouki wiper amp.

From my understanding, ALL s13s/14s and z32s share the exact same window amp.

The Black kouki boxes do not have the function. They have 1 less wire than the brown ones, however all koukis are wired for them unless in the rare case its a base base model which seem to be very very rare (without rear speakers etc)

^nah man, not even close. Each one is different, hell the kouki vs zenki is different on the same chassis. Different plugs.

All '97-'98 kouki wiper amps are the same base or SE/LE. The difference is with the '95-'96 zenki models, they have different wiper amps for base models from the SE/LE models.

I thought so too until I saw a bone stock 98 with a black box and a few 97s with the brown ones. Maybe the function is the same but the colors are definitely different.

Well I still have 2 intermittent wiper amps still installed in 1997 SE's (MFG dates of 3/97 & 6/97) and both use the black wiper amp. I don't understand why they'd change it randomly during production.

I have had a few, all SEs, latest one is from 4/97 and its a square brown. Look on any zenki and they are all round plugs. Black on those is base, brown is SE. Not sure if color carries over to the koukis but all mine had brown. East coast cars. Maybe thats a difference as well. I know from doing a boatload of wiring harnesses that there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to Nissans madness in the 90s. Infiniti are even worse.

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but did you ever figure out if it was just the wiper amp that you needed to get the intermittent wiper feature working? I already did the wiper stalk/control, but that only works on the slow/fast setting. The intermittent feature doesn't work still. I'm assuming you need the amp, but I'm seeing lots of mixed messaged both in this thread and in other threads as well.

Also, where exactly was the part located on the car. I'm seeing mixed messages as well. I looked under the hood on the passenger side and didn't see anything that looked like an amp.
