So I had my Z32 TT trans rebuilt by a reputable shop last year. It has an unlimited warranty on it thankfully. But I'm curious what you guys think of this.

I finally got around to bolting the trans to my SR20 using the mazworx adaptor kit, OSGiken TR2CD with the correct TOB, and a z1 solid clutch fork, Nismo slave and Exedy master.

Literally everything is brand new, minus some gears in the tranny. 3rd and 4th were completely rebuilt.

I used Amsoil fluids. Driving it home from the shop I installed it at, I noticed it's hard to get it into gear. It goes in fine but it takes more muscle to put it into gear than my SR trans ever needed.

Then while getting up to speed on the highway, after I got past 3rd the transmission would constantly make "grinding" noises under load, during accel and even decel in gear. It sounds a lot like a trashed wheel bearing would sound. Just a constant noise.

The faster I go in 4th or 5th the more noise it would make.

Also, it won't go into gear without the clutch depressed at all. Even while running. No matter how hard I tried to get it into gear without the clutch it just wouldn't budge. I've never experience a transmission do that.

Revving in neutral I can hear a "whirring" noise coming from inside the transmission.

I know none of this is clutch related. Clutch is installed correctly using all the right parts.

The trans shop wants to drive the car to take a look and I can almost promise it will need to be removed again.

People have told me these trans can be noisey. But it's noisier than a straight cut dog box.

Any Z guys have an experience like this?
