Ive kept a "Build Thread" on my blog (jyw0rld.wordpress.com (https://jyw0rld.wordpress.com/)) but I figured I would through it to the wolves here on Zilvia to see what happens. This is the condensed version so let us begin starting with my last project and what led me to what is occurring now.

Last year, I build a s13 hatch that ended up with a pretty common setup. The car was stored in a garage since the early 2000's. Over the course of 7-8 years, I would swing by the owner's home to see if the car was ready for sale. I was denied multiple times when I offered the owner money for the car. Finally (2013), after years of trying the owner finally let me have the car. He literally just gave me the car! He signed over the title and told me to move it out of his garage. I couldn't believe that after years of trying and offering cash money, the old guy just gave me a car. I had always loved 180sx's from the early 2000's in Japa and knew that was what I was aiming for if I ever got one. BH, Damon and Olly were some of the guys that inspired me but by the time I got the S13, those dudes were out of the game. Most of the people that were building 240sx's were all about Hoonigan and other US styles that seemed lame to me

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/B4E9A38E-4454-45D2-B22E-3DE4B0B38C0C_zpsyduxogse.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/B4E9A38E-4454-45D2-B22E-3DE4B0B38C0C_zpsyduxogse.jpg.html)

Pushed it down to my parent's house because there was no bettery and the car was sitting for years. Stashed it there as I was graduating from college soon and moving away for a job. Job sucked, I moved back to Texas and had already begun to collect parts for the project. I had found OEM Type X from bumper and Kouki taillights for cheap while I was away, along with some Type X side skirts.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/photo5_zps0df5ca21.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/photo5_zps0df5ca21.jpg.html)

Once I moved back to Texas, I begun to work on the S13. (On my blog I called it a 180sx but for the Zilvia hate begins, ill stick with S13). First thing was to replace everything that I thought could have been corroded from sitting. Replaced the oil, filter, fuel filter, cleaned the fuel lines and tank, coolant and a new battery. I tried to do a nice maintenance job. There aren't many picture of this as I wasn't thinking I would make a build thread or anything at this moment. But here is a sweet picture of the fuel pump that I replaced.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/21B768B1-735E-41B9-AC83-E0B1F2D07261_zpslm5gczwi.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/21B768B1-735E-41B9-AC83-E0B1F2D07261_zpslm5gczwi.jpg.html)

So with all that, the car started just fine and I drove it to get a full tank of gas. It was pretty rewarding to replace a fuel simple things and be able to drive the car with no problem.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/C5E692E5-0BC1-485D-B5ED-229D9B590E77_zpsyffsekt2.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/C5E692E5-0BC1-485D-B5ED-229D9B590E77_zpsyffsekt2.jpg.html)

After I got the car running, it was time to give it a nice clean. I through on the Kouki side skirts and headed to the car wash to clean out the engine bay.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/D0FC7C53-A06C-4004-8C82-58180F631CB7_zpsi6hcwhym.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/D0FC7C53-A06C-4004-8C82-58180F631CB7_zpsi6hcwhym.jpg.html)

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/4D8BF60C-C574-4D33-AD6F-4581FADE674C_zpsr8nmmpp5.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/4D8BF60C-C574-4D33-AD6F-4581FADE674C_zpsr8nmmpp5.jpg.html)

After the cleaning, I went ahead and installed the Kouki Taillights and the Type X front bumper. Around this time, the gentleman that I bought the Type X side skirts from offered my the Type X rear valances so I went ahead with purchasing those and throwing those on as well.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/EBB51A46-C3E6-450A-A1B3-35F372FEC9E7_zpslijsnprl.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/EBB51A46-C3E6-450A-A1B3-35F372FEC9E7_zpslijsnprl.jpg.html)

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/9CD1E96A-3207-41B6-9E19-D0C7A6227DEC_zps4syebe12.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/9CD1E96A-3207-41B6-9E19-D0C7A6227DEC_zps4syebe12.jpg.html)

After fitting the aero on, I knew that the next thing to get was suspension and wheels. I owned a 350z that I was taking to drift events so I was in no rush to make the S13 into a drift car. I just wanted a cool car to drive around in because to me, the 350z never had the ~essence~ of the early 2000 drift style I was striving for. So with that, I kept with the OEM theme and found myself a set of R33 wheels here on Zilvia.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/B0D085C0-3091-4E86-8CA4-EAA04C8336EB_zpsm5oq4y23.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/B0D085C0-3091-4E86-8CA4-EAA04C8336EB_zpsm5oq4y23.jpg.html)

I had Stance Coilovers on my 350z and knew that could handle track days along with daily driving so I ordered a set for the S13. I got a full 5 lug swap with modded knuckles from a friend that was parting out his S14. Picked up some s14 FLCA as well.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/A433C726-C3F4-414C-970D-7B3794E0372A_zpsctauxcrx.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/A433C726-C3F4-414C-970D-7B3794E0372A_zpsctauxcrx.jpg.html)

Next was the last additions to the aero department. I found a pretty cheap wing on Zilvia, bought it and took a picture with some emojis. Constantly looking through Zilvia and Yahoo Auctions, I could never bite the bullet and buy an authentic Type X lip. I opted for a replica lip. I wasn't too bummed about it as everything I had was OEM.

Always cool to find a car stashed away in a garage. Looking forward to the progress. White type X's always seem to give me a chubby.

I just used Purple Power degreaser. Just sprayed it and pressure washed it.

Ok so after I got the lip, I started with the rear subframe. I order the PBM Rear Subframe Risers so that I could have a little bit better geometry with the rear and I didn't know the condition of the factory bushings. Started to pick up some Battle Version arms. I used BV on my 350z and never had any issues so I went with what I knew what proven. Also got the PBM Tie Rods to go with the s14 FLCA's I had. Sorry for the shitty pictures.

After some suspension purchases, it was time to get back to buying the cool parts. I went to GTR garage to get a pair of Ganador Super Mirrors and Dmax clears.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/4_zpscav80wlx.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/4_zpscav80wlx.jpg.html)

Then I decided I wanted to get some really cool wheels. A friend of mine found these for me and I went back to GTR Garage to see if they could win the auction for my in Japan. Sure enough, they did.

These wheels were going to be used on the front so I couldn't have the wimpy stock braked up front, sitting behind these bad boys so I had to upgrade. Found a pair of Z32 front calipers locally for cheap and freshed them up.

Started to get the rear subframe back together. I cleaned up the diff and installed 4.6 Final Drive because I was going to be driving around with the KA and figured it was a good idea. Welded the diff as well.

At some point, I got the aero painted so that I could look fresh at Round 1 of the Lone Star Drift series in 2014. My good friend Andrew let me borrow his rear Minerva's so that I could have a matching set of wheels for the event. I "finished" the car on my birthday last year which was pretty cool. I was pretty excited at this point because to me, I finally had a "cool" car.

I added some chrome stickers at the drift event. I always wanted to do a roll call. (The hood was popped for tech inspection)

Garage is big enough for 1 car lol pretty small.

Well after 2 drift events, my motor started knocking. The 2014 season had just ended and I wasn't worried about it because the SR that I bought was pretty cheap. So my original plan was to part out my motor (Had s15 turbo, cool manifold, Enthalpy Tune, S13.4 valve cover, ect) and my car to put in a S15 SR20 and get GT1 aero. I had a got into contact with Shine Auto for a replica GT1 get, I bought the GT1 wing from YAJ and I had sold all my Type X aero.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/1_zpsjrt8nbqt.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/1_zpsjrt8nbqt.jpg.html)

But then GTR Garage posted a Silver HCR32 Skyline with a RB25DET swap, coilovers, clutch, ect. for about $8000 imported. With that, the gears started to turn in my head and I began to crunch out the numbers. After doing the math, it would actually be cheaper to just part out my S13 to buy a Skyline than it was to put more money into the car. So thats I got into contact with GTR Garage and worked out the details with what I was looking for.

The Part Out began, I sold everything S13 I had. I still had my 350z at the time so I just told everyone that I was going to build my 350z now. I wanted to keep the Skyline a secret. So I sold the chassis, motor, every little thing so I had all the money I needed for a Skyline.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/2_zpspj0tut8s.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/2_zpspj0tut8s.jpg.html)

The owner of my S13 came back a week later to get a few more parts lol

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/5_zpswwsyqgyf.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/5_zpswwsyqgyf.jpg.html)

Within a week, GTR Garage sent me some info about a black 4 door Skyline that was about to hit the auctions. They were going to buy it regardless if I wanted it or not but I knew that I wanted this one. It had pretty much the basic things I requested. Aero, Coilovers, 2-way, Clutch and stock motor. I wanted something reliable and cool looking.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/3_zpsbxnxxbfn.png (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/3_zpsbxnxxbfn.png.html)

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/4_zpsjxckcntz.png (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/4_zpsjxckcntz.png.html)

Well they won the auction within my budget so I was ecstatic. But then GTR Garage offered me a sponsorship because they knew I was going to be drifting this car in the TXSL series and they wanted to spread business to the drifting community. I didn't know what to think. I was pretty much shocked that they offered me the opportunity. We discussed the details, saved me some money on the car and I went to YAJ to start buying things I wanted for the Skyline.

I had to wait for about 3 months for the Skyline to arrive to Texas because I had bought the car in December of 2014 but the Skyline was manufactured in February of 1990 so the Skyline couldn't arrive until February 2015. When it arrived, I went down to the port and drove it home.

When I got it home, I changed all the fluids, put in my Zeta that I had kept from my S13 part out and looked over everything.

After all the fluids were changed, installed my Ganadors (S13 fit on R32) and I had a seat that I could actually fit i, it was time to take it to the car wash. The engine bay was pretty dirty.

Next thing was to change out the wheels. The stock wheels could be kept because they werent cool but all the wheel that I bought were on a container coming in from Japan so my friends let me borrow some wheels that they had laying around.

Shawn is correct. Not a GTR, but it cost me less than $10K

Your 180 was the coolest thing in the world. Super stoked to see how the Skyline turns out, though.

Thank man! I didn't know many people knew about it lol

At this point, I had already ordered some cooling parts that I wanted to keep the car cool during drifting here in the Texas heat. I went with a Koyo radiator and just a simple Autozone transmission cooler that I would use for a power steering cooler.

Here is a comparison between the factory "power steering cooler" and what I was installing.

And both them installed. I'll be moving the location of the PS cooler later on.

I found a set of 17" Blitz 03's for pretty cheap so i bought them.

Picked up a pair of Cusco Front Camber Arms. These are the shortest ones that they make, which are 10 or 15mm shorter than OEM. I didnt like the adjustable ones that everyone makes. These were sturdy and heavy duty.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/IMG_1334_zpslw8kpeef.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/IMG_1334_zpslw8kpeef.jpg.html)

After getting everything installed, It was time for Round 1 for the TXSL series. I didnt have my cage in time but I took the time to get used to drift the Skyline. After this event I regretted nothing.

Ok so at Round 1, my good friend Anthony showed up in his JXZ90 like he always does but this time around he had painted the top half of this car black with flake. I was so envious of his car because we had been talking about doing cool stuff like that forever. I knew I wanted to do something like that for my car asap. My roof was pretty faded anyways so even if I messed up, it would be better than what I had before.

Here is what the roof looked like before.
http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/img_1085_zpsw3bw5tbd.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/img_1085_zpsw3bw5tbd.jpg.html)

For the R32, I have had this goal of trying to do everything myself. I did a lot of basic stuff on the S13 but it was my first time doing things like swapping a motor and dealing with turbos. I had done a lot of searching for inspiration with the R32 and with everything I found, the Japanese would just do it themselves. What really lead me to keep this spirit was Satsukawa (A Bo Moon) and Shout Rogue. These dudes were doing everything to their cars in their backyard. So to keep with the Japanese inspriration, Im going to do everything on my own. <end rant>

Sanded down the clear coat.
http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/img_1491_zpsgnnc2wus.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/img_1491_zpsgnnc2wus.jpg.html)

And ended with this.
http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/img_1507_zpsdu1yeojt.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/img_1507_zpsdu1yeojt.jpg.html)

Pretty much it was just lace laid down and shot with black paint then I cleared it with heavy holographic flake. My friend Yokoi does the lace on valve covers and painting lace on things has been an idea of Anthony and I since I got the R32. It was my first time painting with a paint gun so I just went to Harbor Freight to buy the paint gun. I got PPD paint, the silver is a Honda color and the black is the OEM color. It was pretty fun to do something like this. It came out pretty well I think.

So I showed up to Round 2 of TXSL with a sweet new roof to surprise Anthony.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/IMG_1528_zps1pgtaz3g.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/IMG_1528_zps1pgtaz3g.jpg.html)

I had installed the roll cage as well so this event would by my first time to tandem and to compete in the series. I lost my first battle but was still cool to drive. I phased myself out because he was drive pretty aggressive and I didnt want to get hit.

While at Round 2, I saw then the oil temp were getting higher than I've seen. I knew this was going to happen because I was driving at Mineral Wells which is just a large tarmac in the middle of Texas. When I got home, I ordered the necessary parts I needed to make an oil cooler kit. At the same time, I also relocated the filter as the filter was placed above the subframe and would cause a mess to clean up every time I changed the oil.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/1_zpssm4olc7b.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/1_zpssm4olc7b.jpg.html)

Also changed the air filter as the previous one was pretty dirty.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/2_zpsuh8imr2e.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/2_zpsuh8imr2e.jpg.html)

Then I got the idea to strip the Blitz 03 and polish them. The sizing would also be better with the faces swapped on the different width wheels. I tried to have a company polish them but that turned out to be a whole other story so I just put them back together for the time being to drive at the event.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/4_zpsxkbvxzbl.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/4_zpsxkbvxzbl.jpg.html)

Round 3 had come and I had GTR Garage come to the event to see what Texas drifting is about. I pitched them the idea of the TXSL events that were starting this year and they liked it. The had a booth and sold all types of goodies. It was a rad time! It rained on competition day and during my first battle, both of us spun. I lost the battle because I didn't qualify high enough. Oh well. At least I look cool.

While the guys at GTR Garage were in Texas, I got to pick their brains about Japan. At the time of the event, I had just quit my job because I wasn't happy with what I was doing. I had money saved up and I had sold my 350z to go to Japan last this year. They told me to just go to Japan for a month or so to see what its all about. Well thats what I did and thats where I am now, Japan.

I have been posting daily on my blog (https://jyw0rld.wordpress.com/) about everything I've done in Japan. Ill try to post some cool stuff here but Ill keep the blog more detailed.

Nothing new to update about the car as I am in Japan right now but I got a cool story. I went out for my first day at the local track (Hadashi Tengoku). I was given a stock R32 GTST coupe which had coilovers. At the end of the day, I placed my GoPro on the windshield so that I could finished the last 5-10 mins of my day. Well about 4 mins into that session, I flip the R32.

Stupid me didnt have a helmet, cage or seatbelt. I wound up have to large cuts on my back from when the car landed on its roof and I fell on the sunroof then skidded on the ground. Had to go to the hospital and get stitches. Thankfully Im ok and now have a cool story.

Plan is the car will have the roof cut off and install a cage so the car can still be drifted.

Ok, so my time in Japan is coming to a close so I decided I needed to start shipping stuff I bought back to Texas.

I bought a cool Bride Tuning pad at UpGarage.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/IMG_0350_zpskriw9huk.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/IMG_0350_zpskriw9huk.jpg.html)

Also picked up a Blitz BOV at UpGarage today.

Was searching through the auctions to see if I could get any wheels before I left. Came across these and won the auction for $382. Before anyone asks, they are 17x9 +32. IMO they are a great size for my R32 without having to do anything to the fenders.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/IMG_0331_zpsmioauvzh.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/IMG_0331_zpsmioauvzh.jpg.html)

The last auction item. I always wanted a vented hood. I wanted one when I was building the S13 but never got around to it. I asked GTR Garage if they could ship it for me and they said they could, so I bought it. Really pumped on this purchase.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/IMG_0332_zpsaigzs3j0.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/IMG_0332_zpsaigzs3j0.jpg.html)

The R32 that I flipped at Hadashi Tengoku will be brought in so that it can be stripped of parts. I think im going to try to get some little things from that car to replace things in my R32. I also will probably take the turbo, elbow and downpipe as I believe my turbo is going bad. Plus I still have the stock elbow and downpipe where the car being stripped has both aftermarket elbow and downpipe.

Time to catch up....Came back from Japan to get ready for Final Bout 2. The hood nor the aero showed up for Final Bout so I pulled some tricks out of my ass to get a GTR hood and BN Sports aero. Final Bout was a blast! I drove the R32 over 3000 miles there and back. No Trailer. Broke the subframe and had to get it welded so I could drive home. No regrets. It wasnt hard at all. Japan is amazing and with everyone having a smart phone, Google Translate helps alot.

The hood is never arriving because I asked for a refund as it did not arrive in time for Final Bout. Maybe one day ill try again but for now Ill stick to the GTR hood.

So im still looking for a S14 subframe so that I can order the conversion bushings. Thinking about getting all new bushings for the rest of the arms so the rear end will feel refreshed for next season.

After the rear subframe is replaced, ill move on to some power upgrades...I think.

Hi Jimmy!!

Hey Guys!

So I got a hold of a S14 subframe. Swapped it in with some Stance subframe conversion bushings along with some solid diff bushings. Car feels a whole lot better. Finished up the swap recently and went to a practice day.

This year for the car, I wanted to put a little pep in my step. I set a budget and figured out what I could work with so that I could get ready for this year’s drift season.

Decided to go with a RB25 turbo instead of some fancy Garrett or HKS model. I got this turbo in a trade when I traded the CX Racing GT35 that came with the S13 I was parting out.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/DF541D2A-635F-46D5-ABB3-B800E52FB45E_zpserl41ucg.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/DF541D2A-635F-46D5-ABB3-B800E52FB45E_zpserl41ucg.jpg.html)

I’ll swap over the actuator from the RB20 turbo so that this one will run at 10PSI.

I am waiting to switch up my gauges and since my Koyo radiator has an outlet for a water temp sensor, I am needing to replace my cut upper radiator hose to get rid of the water temp sensor adaptor.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/A2E09E0E-913C-4FFE-88A8-5403A62104C9_zpsbbporatw.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/A2E09E0E-913C-4FFE-88A8-5403A62104C9_zpsbbporatw.jpg.html)

Next up is my rear toe arms. Since swapping in the S14 subframe, I’ve lost some adjustability since I’m using mostly all stock S14 arms. Went with SPC since they have the “bent style” arm for lowered cars and were decently priced.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/540A6230-EAFF-4020-B050-799C775E5CCC_zpsaxd4sdli.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/540A6230-EAFF-4020-B050-799C775E5CCC_zpsaxd4sdli.jpg.html)

Since the turbo was being upgraded, the factory SMIC wasn’t going to work as efficient anymore. I had bought an ISIS intercooler but could never find piping for it so I just bought another intercooler kit.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/95B9C443-4439-4793-B999-41C93E3935FC_zpsr2xccloa.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/95B9C443-4439-4793-B999-41C93E3935FC_zpsr2xccloa.jpg.html)

With installing the turbo, I needed new gaskets and went ahead with SS Turbo lines. It will make install a little easier.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/3C5C1E63-50F8-4001-8FFC-22550727D714_zpsabow68kd.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/3C5C1E63-50F8-4001-8FFC-22550727D714_zpsabow68kd.jpg.html)

The car is still using the factory turbo elbow and downpipe. I wanted to make the exhaust louder so I went with a screamer elbow and 3″ downpipe.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/DDE24257-FA29-4D5A-820F-75FDD8E5FCB2_zpsrt3pdjt6.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/DDE24257-FA29-4D5A-820F-75FDD8E5FCB2_zpsrt3pdjt6.jpg.html)

The fuel pump is pretty loud in the skyline when is it priming. Not sure if it’s factory or aftermarket but I went ahead and got a Walbro 255 just in case. Nothing special here.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/B501594E-0DCC-4C23-9EEF-CA4618401BAA_zpsp27yvkc6.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/B501594E-0DCC-4C23-9EEF-CA4618401BAA_zpsp27yvkc6.jpg.html)

To go with the theme of making loud noises, I purchased a Blitz BOV back in Japan during the summer but on the skyline, you have to have an adapter to make it fit.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/6BBD2371-97CA-47E6-8EBF-A8269DF4E13E_zpsfcbrp8ej.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/6BBD2371-97CA-47E6-8EBF-A8269DF4E13E_zpsfcbrp8ej.jpg.html)

Yesterday, I was speaking with Billy Sutton and he instructed me to wait on the RB25 turbo install until I score some GTR injectors along with a tune. So I’ll hold off on the turbo install but will still install the elbow, downpipe, FMIC, radiator hoses, fuel pump and BOV.

I believe they will. I just scored a RB20 ECU with an Enthalpy tune for really cheap so I'm going to send it off to get a new based tune with my mods. I have a lead on some GTR injectors and I think ill be good with everything. Shooting for early March so that i can make sure everything is ok before the season starts March 19th.

Also worked with Touge Factory and Stance Suspension to build some new coilovers for the R32. The old ones were 8K/6K and I had a lot of body roll when drifting. Changed it up to 12K/10K and added a little flair to the top hats.

H-Town!

So last week I was about to email Streeter to get some GTR Injectors and the resistor when someone on a Facebook group posted exactly what I needed for a really good deal. The next morning I woke up with a text saying that Martin from Enthalpy is going to be showing up on 2/20 for a dyno day. I message the guy that I bought the injectors from to have them be delivered before 2/19 so that i could get everything ready for the dyno.

Put the new screamer pipe on the RB25 turbo as well as the RB20 actuator.
Still a small turbo but i'm not chasing big power, just a little pep in my step.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/delete/F5837E78-A5EA-4DF3-9CCC-41505D2FD37E_zpscg8xhbil.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/delete/F5837E78-A5EA-4DF3-9CCC-41505D2FD37E_zpscg8xhbil.jpg.html)

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/delete/452B656A-9D6F-4CBB-9760-A167330A5EFC_zpse5jvbdv9.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/delete/452B656A-9D6F-4CBB-9760-A167330A5EFC_zpse5jvbdv9.jpg.html)

So Monday, I started on the turbo swap with removing the old turbo and got the new turbo ready. I went to check the shipping of the injectors and they are scheduled to be delivered until 2/22, the Monday after the dyno tune. :bash:

I decided to rant on Facebook about it. Lo and behold, a local guy has a GTR that he is building and doesn't need his injectors or resistor so he is letting me use them for the dyno tune.

Just need to get everything finished up so the dyno goes smoothly.

Update:

Got everything installed. Injectors wired up, turbo bolted on, FMIC plumbed up, ECU tuned and gauges working. Car started right up but when I went to drive the car, it felt very slow. So i went back and double checked for boost leaks, still slow.

Pulled the injectors to be flow tested and cleaned. 480CC across the board so I installed the injectors again. But this time, one of the injectors is leaking so I going to pull that one injector to make sure the O-ring is ok.

Hopefully things will begin to work so I can get back to driving.

Update:

Fixed the leaking injectors with new O-rings but still was having issues. Shot Martin at RS-Enthalpy to make sure we both were on the same page on the tune. Mistakenly, the tune was for a Z32 maf and not the RB20 so I wired in a Z32 maf but still not the right answer.

ECU was blinking and not throwing codes so I mailed the ECU to Martin. Martin fixed it and shipped it back for free! Excellent customer service from him every time!

While the ECU was being repaired, I finished up the gauge install and new radio. Still need to install the wideband and do something with my door panels -__-

Houston just got flooded this week but the R32 was safe. The water didnt get that high in the garage.

So I installed the ECU but the car was still running rough. I went back, pulled all the wiring apart again to go through it one more time.

Fortunately, my efforts proved worthy! The car is running great now!

Picked up some more parts while the car was down because who doesnt like to buy parts that are not needed when your car does run right.

Picked up some more Blitz wheels. I think Im going to have a theme of Blitz parts in the car.

So the summer was fairly uneventful. Didnt do a lot of driving, changed plans about 1000 times, parted out a couple of 240sx's to make some side cash, bought and sold a Civic i was planing to build and ended up with a red S13. Was going to do OEM aero on the Skyline but decided to just buy more BN and keep tearing it up.

The 180sx bug bit me again. I was able to pay off my student loans and my truck recently and figured it was a good time to blow money on another money pit since I dont spend money on drugs.

I was searching craigslist and found one in Dallas. Pretty clean chassis and it was red which is what I always wanted to have. Got it pretty cheap but it has its issues.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/51B22027-813F-4622-8E1D-41589C3FC0A0_zpsz9ofta6x.jpeg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/51B22027-813F-4622-8E1D-41589C3FC0A0_zpsz9ofta6x.jpeg.html)

The seller said it had a S14 KA in it but the previous owner messed up the wiring when installing the motor. When we showed up to see the car, we compression tested the motor to which we realize the motor had low compression. So that knocked down the price a bit.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/ED0AE456-3C37-4453-9951-66FC24351A42_zpskirlwa15.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/ED0AE456-3C37-4453-9951-66FC24351A42_zpskirlwa15.jpg.html)

Got it home and started ripping it apart. Found some dirty magazines, panties and condoms under the rear seats. Removed the bumper, hood, fenders and the chassis harness. I plan on replacing the harness so I wont run into any electrical issues if I tried to repair the one in the car that the car came with.

I was planning on just having a KA Type X car again like my last one but a killer deal popped up on a rebuild SR20. Drove up to Dallas once again to pick up the motor. Planning on just putting a S15BB turbo on it and leave it at that.

We had a local event where they set up a replica of Meihan. The Skyline performed just fine and we finally had a "open" track layout which was a good change of pace from just doing 1 lap and getting back in line.

After scooping up the motor, I wanted to give the skyline some love. I recently had the R32 tuned with what I thought was a RB25 turbo but recently determined that its actually a VG30 turbo. Power is great once it hits boost but the lag is bad. So i was either going to get a RB25 or search for a HKS2530. After searching, someone on a Facebook page found me one in Canada for a really good deal. I plan on having it dyno tuned again when Martin from RS-Enthalpy visits town again.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/6A2ECA2D-80E4-4B3B-9C57-E41F7F2BB8B7_zpsb5ox8drl.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/6A2ECA2D-80E4-4B3B-9C57-E41F7F2BB8B7_zpsb5ox8drl.jpg.html)

Finally, a Kouki bumper showed up for sale. No one locally wanted it so the seller dropped the price down alot and then I bought it. I originally had purchased a whole Type X kit in Japan only to find out that the seller couldnt ship it so I got a refund. Bumper came with all the bracket and side extensions as well. Score!

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/180sx%20build/18098A7B-DA05-48BA-AF78-D34A81A42B57_zpsqlppc4ty.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/180sx%20build/18098A7B-DA05-48BA-AF78-D34A81A42B57_zpsqlppc4ty.jpg.html)

So where Im at now. Im getting married in 2 weeks so progress will slow down on the 180sx until I get back from the honeymoon. Im hoping to have the HKS turbo installed and Martin to send me a base tune so that I can drive the car a little to see if the HKS turbo is really as good as people say. I would like to take my time with cleaning up the 180sx before putting in the motor and blowing money on suspension so dont expect many updates on that.

Thanks for reading

I use the same type of justification when purchasing expensive items. I don't smoke or drink so I'm okay to spend whatever :naughty:

UPDATE!

So I got married, went on a honeymoon and then got ready for a drift event. We got invited to the End of Year Bash in New Orleans and since there wasnt a local event coming up soon, we figured we would make the trek out there for it. We also got permission to drift on the go kart track as well so that really got us excited.

For the event, I wanted to put on the HKS turbo and some angle. Well when i decided to out the new gaskets on the HKS Turbo before I installed it, I found that it was a T2 Turbo and not T3 so i had to sell it. :picardfp:

Then here was the angle. I ordered a rack spacer from Maverick Motorsports and Touge Factory hooked it up with they Outer Tie Rods and Tien Inner Tie Rods. I got the car on the lift only to find out that the previous owner in Japan already put the Tien Tie Rod Spacers on so i really didnt get any more angle.

Packed up and was on the road so that we could get home at a decent time. I ended up debeading a tire when we left after lunch then had my new tires blow out. Ended up having to swap wheel around at a gas station and now I think I want to do 17/18 stagger.

That pretty much wraps up 2016. It was a shitty year but it ended well. Im going to begin to get the car ready for the A-Bo-Moon event in May then Final Bout in September. I want to make up for the lost time in 2017.

Thanks for reading!

Mid year recap:

Aero arrived, didn't go to Abo Moon Event, Crashed the R32, Not driving FB3, and I bought my old 180sx back.

Here are some pictures. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170808/f7ba3df2a2d0ab01931e17594475ecf4.jpg

Repairs and paint are still going on with the R32. The 180sx now has Z32 brakes and the TE's from the R32. Probably won't do body work on the 180sx for a while so the quarter panels will look horrible for a long time. Sorry in advance.

So not much has really happened until lately. Went to Final Bout 3 and had a blast.

https://jyw0rld.wordpress.com/2017/09/14/final-final-bout/

Painting the car has been pretty much on and off. I was going to sell the car then keep it, I was going to try to fix the quarter panel then I was just going to add the over fenders. I was going to use stock metal fenders then I got vented fenders. Then i ordered a BN Sports hood. I moved from 17" all around to 17/18 stagger. Its been a cluster fuck of changing ideas and how the car will turn out but I'm stick with what I got now and just trying to finish the car. This is the car as of right now. Hood arrives probably Jan/Feb so thats when the car will be finished.

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/NismoJimbo/85A231BE-354F-41C0-8088-E2C6228AACB2_zpsbqa5gfwo.jpg (http://s905.photobucket.com/user/NismoJimbo/media/85A231BE-354F-41C0-8088-E2C6228AACB2_zpsbqa5gfwo.jpg.html)

Also in this time of not having the car and what I have witnessed with other R32 sedans, I decided to swap to a SR20. I did the math and Im hoping to almost break even with selling all the RB20 stuff that i have. I scooped up a S13 Blacktop SR from a local importer. Motor seemed stock with a ARC oil pan. I was really banking on an aftermarket clutch with the motor but it was just a burnt stock clutch.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/c7f51ea9745d15fc2394c14421683cfb.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/63579c9a0811fb65e23aa3020bfddac6.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/7f370180a5cc0e992501458ebd9695ca.jpg

The importer gave me a "30 days start up warrenty" so i have 30 days AFTER i get the motor starter that if anything goes wrong, then I can return it so i wasnt too worried about checking out the motor in much detail when I was inspecting it at the importer. It had great compression and looked to be all there so I took it. I dropped the motor off at my work so I could tinker with it every so often and not have to go to my garage after work. I cracked open the valve cover and found these...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/f702ec84d5ee57eaeee04fd9fbbe38ce.jpg

HKS CAMS!!!!!! Pretty stoked on these. 256 cams so the motor wasnt all that stock!

I removed all the accessories and cleaned up the motor. I ordered a complete gasket kit but didnt want to removed the intake manifold since I thought I could get it cleaned pretty well.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/9fdb90cada118098f72eda76323c2ea7.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/3567af4ea71d59836636aa06642e8187.jpg

After degreasing it and cleaning it up, i wasnt too happy so I decided to paint the block and intake manifold. All of the bracket I sand blasted and repainted black. The PS pulley was dented so I ordered a pulley set and got those installed. Water pump seems to be new so I dropped in a Nismo Thermostat.

As for power, the TD06 was really tempting but I stuck with a S15 BB turbo, Power FC and 550CC STi Injectors. Shooting for 300HP and keep things reliable. Since Im drifting this car in Texas, cooling is my main concern. Oil cooler with the Tomei N2 oil block paired with the GREX Thermostatic oil filter relocation should help oil temps stay cooler. S14/15 oil pick up was also upgraded. Koyo Radiator will be ordered and probably a RB25 fan or maybe a GK tech one.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/0d8fb67a1a50a01fd09e6c42583f783c.jpg

Found a good deal on a PBM Cobra Downpipe here on Zilvia so i snagged it up.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171115/5d2e167815e7872ab52cd8a948b389ac.jpg

Still needing to get a few little things like replacing the rear main seal, clutch, turbo lines and intake. Should have some cool updates over the next couple of months when the car returns from paint, removing the RB and installing the SR.

Going to transfer everything over from the white car to this car. Then I don’t have to do much body work. I think I might pick up another pair of TE’s, chuki sides and put on my rear valances. Swap the KA24DE, 4.6 gears and have a simple car that has some pep. But I gotta finish the R32 before I can start this project.

So my s13 plan didn’t go as planned. I decided to part it out and use the money to mod my house that I just bought.

I crushed the white hatch because I didn’t want anyone to ever build it and I sold the red one for WAY more than what I paid for it.

My BN Sport hood finally arrived but I haven’t gotten time to drop it off at paint since we have been moving.

Got the garage floor epoxied and painted since CamryOnBronze told me to do it.

Time for pictures.

Got the SR20 tuned and got the hood painted. Had to redo the overfenders since they were cut correctly to allow the wheels to fit properly.

Had my friend Justin (RurouniMidnight) took some pictures of the car that I’ll probably post on my blog so I don’t cluster up this page.

Drifting this weekend then hopefully have a couple practice days before I head off to SuperD in September.

I crushed it because I didnt want anyone to ever build that car. I felt like I did it justice the first time but after going through it the second time, it wasnt the same.

So went to the drift event and rod knocked the motor first couple of turns. Go to find out that I might have been just “that” much low of oil and the ARC oil pan didn’t have those trap door baffles. No idea how it happened but motor was smoked.

Packed it up, went home and pulled the motor. Went the following Monday or Tuesday and bought a S15 SR20. No more games. If this thing blows up, I either gotta rebuild or just quit at this point.

I’m keeping this motor stock. Just a drop in swap to get me through SuperD and Another event next year. Defiantly not drifting any events next summer in Texas because the heat is getting unbearable.

Also, I picked up another S13. 1 owner, low mileage, sun roof, 5 speed and power everything. I was cruising it last week and over the weekend but clutch fluid is leaking from I believe either the hardline or the dampener. I’ve order a new SS clutch line to replace all that other trash. Register and put the car on my insurance so I know I’m keeping it lol

You should sell that ARC oil pan, any collector of abbey road would probably buy despite the setbacks of no trap doors. Then you could use the cash to get a Greddy one which is better insurance for the new motor. They come with the trap doors so you don't have to stress.

one step ahead of you sir! Thats is exactly what I did! well i got the new Tomei pan.

4 doors are pretty cookie cutter lol not many variations IMO. But 2 doors remind me of S13's so what do I know.

Got the motor installed. Just have to plug in the harness and double and triple check everything.

SuperD…..what an experience. Since FB2, I haven’t went to a large event to drive, just to spectate. Life has taken priority over the last couple of years. But for this event, I registered out of the blue without any real plans.

Prior to leaving, I was chasing down lots of issues. Fluid leaks, swapping back to the S13 subframe, and overall motor installation things. By the time I loaded up the car for SuperD, my power steering wasn’t working, clutch/transmission wasn’t working, and the car was breaking up under Boost.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/a29cd678c17250de9d3372677f04b3a4.jpg

Harris and I drove from my work to Memphis this first night then to Chicago the next day. Got to Chicago and got dinner with Simba. After dinner, I picked up Kayla and we crashed for the night. The next day, we headed to Shawano with Josh (Revgasm) and Damon (COB).
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/53975be21a5322809bc53cbc62995f48.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/6f60b24cfc02db05159b535f75dee7c1.jpg

Got to the track and unloaded the cars. The winch on the trailer makes loading and unloading easier but a little more time consuming. It’s defiantly safer in my opinion so I’m happy with the install. Started up the car and it would big and die. Found out that the capped vacuum lines on the throttle body were open and causing the issues.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/3c5d56b27aae36ca2cdf36a9c03dd44f.jpg

Saturday, I knew I would have to drop the transmission and figure out what was wrong. Harris was the MVP as he not only helped me with my car but also Josh with his car. I tried to bring as many spare parts as I could for this trip which included 4 tie rods, 2 transmissions, 1 S15 Turbo, full gasket set and enough fluids to finish any job.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/017acbf476e5643cedaf08d21baf8dc3.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/59ce9d39fb4b606fd5402a1b63e70c58.jpg

After getting the car running, I tried to take it out but still having Boost cut out. Kind of just chilled out on Saturday since we thought it was the Maf or coilpacks.

Sunday, we check both of those things but they were ok. Top 32 started but drivers were having issues so the ladder wasn’t filling out like they wanted to. Brandon Strong broke his transmission before top 32 so I was told to get my car running just in case I needed to fill the spot. I didn’t get to qualify on Saturday since I was trying to fix issues.

Luckily, Brandon got his car running just in time but I also fixed mine. The wastegate vacuum line was the issue so after fixing it, the car ran with no issues.

After the competition, I finally got to drive my car with no issues and it felt great! Stock motor with stock power, stock knuckles, and 4.6 diff. It has been 1.5 years since I’ve drifted and it came back like riding a bike.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180927/8feded43fc04ba6ac16b29f806cd7dc5.jpg

I got to take Josh, Billy, and Julian out for a ride and I let Julian drive my car so that he could get a feel for the car and develop some knuckles for the R32. Tried to chase down Julian, simba, ilia and Jason but those dudes are fast. Got to tandem with Jason which was great and he tapped him when he was chasing which is cool.

Went to wekfest this weekend. A friend of mine signed me up with my email when I thought he was sending me PayPal after asking for my email.

The night before, Mayday Garage (local Houston group) hosts a premeet. It’s always the best thing about wekfest or any other big car show.

This year’s premeet was at a new location and the cops shut us down early due to the amount of people. They were starting to tow and issue tickets so I dip out.

Got to the show and staged for Mayday Garage. One of the members asked me to represent them in the show as their “top picks”.

I actually got “Nissan Of The Festival” for the show. That was pretty cool and not bad for a wrecked drift car when there were R35’s in the show lol

So after the Club Loose event, I drove an event at the local Police Academy. They have a small road course for training purposes that is available for the public to rent. I went by myself which was a weird feeling to go drifting alone.

The next day, we got to drive on a local kart track. There was 4 of us for the whole day and the track was awesome. I’m not sure they will ever let us drive again but it was awesome to have done it one. We shared the track with grip drivers. 10 minute heats, every 10 mins. So grip drivers for 10 mins then we drifted for 10 mins. It was so nice!!

I also blew up my transmission on the last session lol

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190103/98489a8cca12f9082ef4a43f4ebd6965.jpg

I swapped in a new trans then went back to Club Loose. Wasn’t really feeling it and drove maybe 15 laps. Packed it up early and went home.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190103/beb9d01b83d01745e446b86ff586e999.jpg

Then we drove Lone Star Drive JZX event. I haven’t seen any pictures from the event of my car but I was t really looking for them anyways. It was cold and wet but the driving was fun. I’m terrible at drifting in the rain so it was a learning experience.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190103/267402c17868a5b62b3000a096d6b66a.jpg

Then I blew up another transmission of the way to breakfast the next morning. The reason why transmissions keep exploding is because the RB20 Speed Sensor falls out of the SR trans and leaks all the oil out. I’m an idiot but I have a solution. Swapping in a new transmission this weekend so I can drive the car around.

I’m participating in a demo at Circuits Of The Americas in February. People pay to get a ride in my car. Super Lap Battle will be going on as well so I’m more excited about that than drifting. Maybe I’ll get to take the R32 on the circuit!

Over the years, I have attempted to build another S13 after I parted out my first one 5 years ago.

This time, I took a different approach and set goals for myself. There were multiple plans that I changed along the way but I think the way it all came together was meant to be.

After Final Bout, I knew my R32 was complete. The way it looked and drove gave me a sense of completion, something I don't think I have ever felt during my "car life". There was always something was going to come next or another stage but with the livery, I don't think I can do anything else to the car.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4973-1.jpg?w=680

With that, I knew I could devote my time and finances to something else. This was the mindset that allowed me to commit 100% to another car.

I first had my eyes set on a S14. There was one earlier this year that I put an offer on but the seller declined. It was a 1994 Silvia, white with NA SR20DE. That car sold but about the time I was looking for another car, it came back up for sale. The new owner put a high price tag on it but I was ready to buy it but after a couple days, the seller backed out.

Then I went to go look at a couple other S14, USDM chassis's. The first one was ok, but I wasn't sold on it. The other 2 that I was planning on looking at, the sellers decided to not sell them.

After 4 S14's, I took this as a sign that it wasn't meant to be and decided that I should just go with what I know but try to try some other things with the S13.

My main goal was to do a NA SR20DE in the s13. It was something I haven't done and I figured it was something that would make building another S13 "fresh". And I happened to come across a 1991 240sx Hatch with a S14 NA SR that wasn't installed. I contacted the seller and it was still for sale. Unfortunately he had someone heading his way to look at the car and if I didn't sell, I would be able to come look at it the next day.

Well the S13 sold that night to the other buyer and I told the seller to let the new owner to contact me and I will pay more for the car if he wanted to sell it. I was getting desperate but the new owner did contact me and told me if he were to sell it, he would let me know.

This car was exactly like my first S13 so I was attached to it already. The owner happened to contact me about a week later saying he needed to sell the car and would sell it for what he bought it for. So i packed up and went to pick it up.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4476.jpg?w=680

About this time, my friend Eric hit me up to ask if I wanted to buy his chair. This was another one of my goals: to obtain a Zeros or Maxis for my S13. So I didn't hesitate and bought it.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/1c1cec7a-d081-4aca-938b-6957edc45561.jpg?w=680

Once I had the car and the chair, I knew things were getting serious.

Damon was the only person I told that I was building this car. We always chatted about how we thought it was cool to build something in secret then reveal it. I'm a fairly open person and I enjoy sharing with others but this time, I decided to keep things quite while I gathered everything.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4511.jpg?w=680

The next item on the list was a set of Kouki taillights. These are at the top of the list of why I think the 180sx is the coolest car. NissanParts had 15% off the following weekend that I got the car to the shop so I jumped on their full taillight kit. I had to add the RPS13 panel as well.

11-12-2019, 06:17 AM
Alright, so after acquiring the seat, car and tail lights, it was time to try to get the rest of the aero so I could have the car look decent while I was looked for an engine.

I found the front bumper from a gentleman that was parting out his white Kouki S13. I tried to buy all the aero but there was another buyer that bought everything but the front bumper. So I opted to get what I could.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4544.jpg?w=680

Next I found the Kouki wing. Someone on Facebook was selling a group of them so I jumped on one of them.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4552-1.jpg?w=680

Trying to find side skirts and rear valances was damn near impossible. It took me a while to find a each set.

But in the meanwhile, I decided that the S14 NA SR20DE that came with the car wasn't what I wanted. I sold it and was on the search for a S13 KA24DE so I could just drop it in and keep the budget "responsible".

I picked up a parts car with a stock KA to swap in and I also ended up with another cheap KA locally. So I ended up with 2 S13 KA's that I was going to clean up and install one in the car.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4578.jpg?w=680

At this point, I had to pick 1 of the KA's and sell the other. I ended up selling the one from the parts car because it was an automatic car but as soon as I sold it, someone messaged me wanting to trade a S15 Autech SR20DE engine.

So my plans changed once again and I traded the KA with cash for a S15 SR20DE engine.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_4845.png?w=680

This thing was super cool! But I ended up selling it after a week of having it because Damon and I decided that having an Intercooler is cooler and if I'm going to build this car, let's do it the coolest looking way.

So in the span of 3-4 weeks, I sold 2 SR's and 2 KA's. Still didn't have any more aero and still with no power train.

After deciding to bite the bullet and start bidding on aero on YAJ, I found side skirts and rear valances. Unfortunately I had to buy 3 sets of side skirts and 2 separate auctions for the rear valances just to have everything complete.

Finally after sorting all the aero, It was time to move onto another goal for the car: complete Z32 Brakes. I had the fronts on my last S13 but never the rear. I've owned a full set but never installed them. This time, I was going to complete it.

Someone in Zilvia was selling the rear Ebrake assemblies for fairly cheap so I bought them. Then someone posted the calipers for sale on Facebook for cheap and I bought them too. Pads and Rotors were purchased new, of course.

I didn't take pictures of the brakes before they were on the car so here they are. They are brakes, nothing special. I painted them gold, haven't decided if I'm going to paint the letters red.

Finally for this post, Damon talked me into getting a red Brix for the passenger seat. He said if I had the Zeros then I need a Brix to match.

GETJPN had one for sale so I just bought it without thinking twice. No regrets.

With another distraction down, I needed to really focus on getting an engine. I began looking at S13's that I could part out and use the engines.

Everything that I was finding was ragged out and bad compression numbers. It was extremely depressing trying to find another good SR20DET that was healthy.

Eventually, I came across a car that seemed to be what I wanted. The guy selling it had the car for 10 years and was built prior to him owning it. He had only put Stance coilovers on it in the last few years but never got to drive it, due to kids.

It took us a month to meet up due to scheduling and after driving 2 hours to look at it, the compression wasn't good. Or so we thought. The car ran just fine, pulled as hard as the R32 did but something was off so I passed on it.

The owner went and had the car checked out and video'ed the compression test with a new gauge, the engine was HEALTHY.

I drove back 2 hours, loaded up the car and took it home. Got a car with a decent engine!

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5140.jpg?w=680

I got the car home and drove it into the garage. Looked over it one more time and realized that I should just build off this car than ripping the engine out and putting it in the shell.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5146.jpg?w=680

The run down of the S13:

1989 240sx

S15 SR20DET

6 speed Transmission

Blitz FMIC

Koyo

Stance Coilovers

Nismo Power Brace

5 lug

S14 seats

Tomei elbow

Trust Downpipe

RSR exhaust

I started cleaning up the car the next day and beginning to part out the white S13 Shell I had been saving for months.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/59279954545__2aab3b35-d1e4-4b1b-b6b1-5e0af1e03487.jpg?w=680

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5154.jpg?w=680

This car is so mid 2000's built. Has a working S15 cluster, wiring loom covers, HKS fan controller and funny shift knob. And it was built pretty well. Nothing that couldn't be undone.

I parted out the white shell. Sold everything I didn't need. Kept the black interior. Began putting on aero and my seats.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5201.jpg?w=680

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5161.jpg?w=680

This is the point when Damon arrived. We installed the Z32 brakes, tucked the fender harness, started removing the blue interior, put in S14 FLCA's, removing all the old harness, and cleaning up what we thought needing replacing.

https://jyw0rld.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/img_5315.jpg?w=680

As of this week, I ordered a new engine harness from wiring specialties, new black carpet, clean dash and manual seat belt conversion.

This should be where I can stop and drive the car around until I feel it's ok to paint the car responsibly.

I have to clean up the R32 first before painting the 180sx so that both cars are done.

It took a while but keeping this car a secret until I felt it was "done" was a cool goal. Not everything needs to be blasted on social media but it doesn't hurt to share. It was an experiment that I wanted to try and I feel that I accomplished it.

So I'll have a couple more updated on this car but shouldn't be too much since the car is fairly simple.

Thanks for reading!

The R32 will still get some love in preparation for Final Bout South.

I’m changing seats to a Zeta. The Gardis is a great seat but the Maxis fills the void for my need of a crazy seat.

Came across a really cheat Zeta that is by far the nicest seat I’ve owned so far. Fits great and won’t hit the roll cage.

Im liking silver as well. Probably will be the color choice to keep this car chill and keep the R32 "wild"

Well here is a 6 month update. Things kinda slowed down, taking a step back instead of rushing things to get painted. From the last post, I removed the SR20 from the chassis. I also removed everything from the engine bay in order to have the bay painted to match the car.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200716/5b19eeb16cb2fe5e509f57710cd7ece2.jpg

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200716/983cdffab5d070d06ba98387f80f25ba.jpg

Once pulled, I stripped the engine on both the intake and exhaust sides. Cleaned the block and hit it with high temp silver. I have this silly superstition about not opening up SR20, not even the valve cover. If you have seen the SR in the R32, the VC still isnt because I dont want to let the magic out LOL

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200716/858822b7987e7cb4a671737cff3ba253.jpg

Freshening up the SR isnt cheap. I have had this conversation with alot of people who think they can buy an engine from an importer and drop it in. Its not like that. You essentially have to double the price of the engine to have an actual price of swapping in a engine.

Below is what I chose to replace. I tried to use all OEM or quality parts because my goal is to daily this car and stop driving my truck. New OEM gaskets, oil pan, oil pick up, FPR, fuel filter, and turbo. Gates belts and Exedy Clutch Slave and Master Cylinder. New Walbro 255 fuel pump and SS lines to replace the old 30 year old parts. New motor and transmission mounts as well as a new PBM downpipe. The clutch is a simple ?stage 2? replacement with a new flywheel to replace the old worn unit. What isnt shown is a new DC Sport Turbo manifold (wanted to try their design out for the sounds), turbo oil drain and greddy FMIC kit.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200716/43e9cef8b3dd6e837aa2febd997be3fa.jpg

I also order a new Koguchi Power bonnet and picked up a GGrow rear lip (not pictured). The KP bonnet has been a thing that I have wanted for a really long time and Im glad I pulled the trigger. The GGrow rear lip is something new that I have been looking at. It is lower than the OEM valances so I feel it might flow a little better.

I loaded up the car and took it to Logan so that he can do all the paint and body work. He will do a great job and Im excited to see it complete when its done.

overkill is the best way. I did studs, with a nut on the back where I could get one to fit, then tack welded. Next time i'll just weld the turbo to the manifold :ughd::ughd::ughd:
