Well, one early morning I went to fire up my 240 and ended up needing a jump. Stupidly, I hooked up the cables in reverse, and even tried starting the car while the cables were reversed. A minute or so went by before I even figured out what I had done. I know, very stupid.
:picardfp:
Now onto fixing what damage i had done:
After I had put the cables back on the right way, the ignition would not light anything up. No dash lights, no radio, nothing. Found the 75A fusible link was blown, so i bought a new one and replaced it. Now I had dash lights and even can hear the fuel pump power on (it was re-wired to be always-on with the ignition).
The car still wouldn't start. I pulled a coil pack and spark plug, found that it wasn't sparking, but i was definitely getting fuel. The coilpack was getting +12V and the ground seemed fine.
Then, onto the ignitor, did some research and basically determined that in order to figure out if it was good or bad, Id need to test it in another car, or just throw in a new ignitor. I went ahead and ordered one, and its on its way.
I then wanted to check the ecu power and grounds. I found this post by army240: http://zilvia.net/f/showpost.php?p=4109383&postcount=10
I followed those instructions on which pins would be required for spark:
46, 109 both had constant power
13, 39, 48, 107, 108, 116 all had good grounds.
However, on 38 and 47 i got nothing, even with ignition on.
This seemed strange to me, because the ECU LED stayed solid red only when the ignition was ON, then turned off after the ignition was switched off.
Is there another pin that the LED is signaled by? Am I approaching this all wrong? I appreciate any help.
Thanks.
