Hey guys,
been on this forum for a while now but haven't had a 240 in years. But, I just wanted to update everyone on something I have been working on. The coil on plug conversion system for the OEM ecu. This is a module that is wired in place of the distributor power transistor and runs four sequential ignition coils whether it be CNP or COP. The module has been tested on the FWD SR20 and works well. JKTuning is involved in this project and will be testing one of the beta boards in the next month or so. The module is called the DIS-SR (SR20), I have a version for the KA24DE dubbed the DIS-KA in the works as well. The module also has a coil discharge feature that limits the duration the coil can be charged. It is a similar feature found on the GM LS2 coils.
The only caveat is whatever ecu you use, it must have the capability of changing the dwell. Eg NismotronicSA, Nistune, Basic chips... Some sort of daughterboard is a must.
The DIS-SR has been tested on the NismotronicSA and is currently the only officially supported ECU. That does not mean others wont work and further testing is needed.
Please feel free to ask any question.
