apexi afc... are those worth anything?

The ones with 5 knobs which only allow adjustments at 1600rpm intervals. Are those worth anything for tuning or should i not even consider them and go with safc?

I find them much cooler looking :)

well one has more adjustablity. 500rpm increments or the 1600rpm increments you say that the afc has. how dialed do you want to be? it could be the difference between you blowing up your engine

How about this... Buy both, hook up the more functional yet uglier SAFC in the glove box, and mount the less functional yet better-looking AFC in the console somewhere. Then you have the looks and the function! :coold:

Well that's great, so which one should i put in the glove box, the safc, safc 2 or maybe a haltech? gee, maybe you can loan me $2K while you are at it? :hahano:

never tuned with either thus my question. I'm not looking for a dead on performance, i can run rich, but i want it idleing and working rather smooth.

Give us some more info about your setup. If you've got a different maf, like a z32, I think you'd have to go with the newer SAFC. Or a Haltech. :p
If you just want it to run richer the older style should work decently.

going from 230cc to 460cc.

From the look of it, you can only adjust up to +/- 30% of the stock injector setting, which would have you running really, really rich. I think you're going to have to go with the newer model. I have seen some black SAFCs though, if you're not digging the silver/blue (I'm not).

hmm shit, haven't thought about that 30% won't help me... thanks for pointing that out... i could hook up 2 in a row though :doh:

edit: what about hks afr? seems a little cheaper, and offers a little more adjustability....

the safc 2 are 200 rpm increment adjustable for air/fuel ratio. I was going to get one for my ka-t jwt setup, but don't really have the money for it right now. I you can put 50% bigger injectors for corrections. There are more people on the forum that has the unit.
