i have looked all over the Internet, and I'm not
Ignorant when it comes to timing a vehicle.

Ok-so my 240 is an 89 with a 94 duel cam. I know I need to replace my upper timing guide or remove it, it's making noise....I'm having issues getting power from my car. I can maybe get passed 35% throttle and my car pulls timing (it seems like) and misfires. Idle is rough, and it seems like it can't 'hold' timing' I have to constantly adjust the distributor to get it to run. Only issue with this is; I get a severe lag of power and misfire at a constantly changing rpm point in the power curve. Like if I'm on the highway, or starting my car up after driving it all day...it is different...

I wouldn't ask for an :facepalm:opinion if I wasn't confused, but do you (zilvia) think my lower timing chain is bad? Ecu? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Etc. anybody with a similar problem please assist.
Thanks in advance!

I have a similar issue on my 95 s14. At WOT there is a loss of power. The motor shakes and misses. Ill floor the pedal and it wont accelerate or it might. Ive cleaned the MAF the IACV changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, isis fuel pump, 300zx fuel filter, new injectors, exhaust gaskets and intake gasket. ive checked for vac leaks and dont see any. i get no codes from the ecu except EGR because its removed. The only thing i didnt check is the TPS but it doesnt throw a code so i figured it working and would cause these issues. Did you ever find the issue?

auto zone has a fuel pressure tester for about 150 bucks. They probably have a timing light too.http://goo.gl/NQIZBB

Have you recently had a problem with your battery dying? Sounds like the way my car was acting when one of the wires on the alternator was severely messed up. I would say MAF, but you said the rpms changes often. Did the problems start out of the blue one day, or did you buy/swap this car recently and has been doing this ever since?
