The g50 q45 has an r200 diff, same as a 240. Now i see people who have put the entire diff in their car including axles, hubs, etc, too get the lsd and higher gear. Frankly i dont care about the lsd i just want the gear ratio. Now before i go tear this q apart at the junk yard tomorrow is there any reason the q r200 ring and pinion wouldn't fit in my s13 r200?

I did find this thread. Any updates on the shim problem?http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=278984

There is no shim problem. The gearing will work fine. I hope you have a T56 trans or that poor S chassis is going to be a DOG!

Watch out for the pesky 12mm/13mm ring gear bolt sizes. As I recently found out the hard way, some R200 diffs come with either 12mm or 13mm ring gear bolts. If you have 12mm sized holes in your diff and the ring gear has 13mm ring gear bolt you'll either need a new diff or to enlarge the holes in your diff.

If you have 13mm holes in your diff but running 12mm ring gear then I'd suggest running some S15 ring gear bolts since they have a 13mm shaft but 12mm threads.

The reason im doing this gear change is because the car is driven 90% highway at 70mph+ so losing some acceleration is fine with me.
So jsimpson the ring and pinion will actually swap right in? No spacing problem like stated inthat thread?
Im aware of the bolt size difference. I found a part number for the correct bolts but they seem to be hard to find. Though a lot of people have reported just using the 12mm bolts and have not had issues. Im not too concerned, like i said its mostly a highway cruiser. Hasn't seen a track in a long time.

I've used many different ring and pinions inside many different housings and they are all the same assuming you are using non-abs to non-abs and abs to abs... You need to use the shims with their corresponding R&P
