they're not racecars, man.
The 240sx (especially the S14) was mostly marketed to women as a 'sexy sporty coupe'.
Not a nuts-out, rubbershredding, 12sec 1/4 miler.

yea, they never were meant to be quick in the straight line, however, if u look at the cars the 240's were competing with (especialy the s13s of hte EARLY 9o's) they were pretty damn quick. Most sportcompact cars now are just hittin ghte 175hp or so barriers. All in all,not bad, what mods do u have?

That time doesn't seem too bad, I ran a 16.5 with a stock single cam back in the day.

I went to the track (1/8) last spring and ran a 9.84 at around 71mph. My friend with a KA-T on this forum (Evil S14) ran a 8.5x I think. I don't know what 9.84 would be in the 1/4 had I kept going though. I really don't care for drag racing, but it's fun to see what you can do against people who think they have faster cars. That particular run I beat a modded GS-R Integra who was telling me he ran mid-14's.

Yeah, I feel that. Pay $15 for dragstrip...or $15 for 6 runs at an autox...hmmmmmm.

Depends what you qualify as a sport compact car. I'd say the Lancer Evolution and Subaru WRX STi are sport compact cars and they've got up to 300hp.

I don't think I'd classify the Evo or STi as compacts.

Do you classify them as Jetta/Van hybrids?

I guess I'd classify them as a sports sedan. When I think of a "sport compact" car, I mainly think of civics, integras, celicas, 240SXs, etc.

Ill be autox'ing alot soon, never done that. A few of my friends do it and they say its a blast.

I like drag because its a way to settle who has the fastest car without the cops getting you. I dont plan on building the car for drag though, i just wanted an idea of what it could do.

it really is mostly in the launch. the only power adder i have is a cone filter, and some weight reduction.

Damn, I must suck at driving then because I have intake, catback, vlsd, stage 1 clutch, and test pipe and I could only best a 10.9. What rpm do you launch at, and also what is your 60'? Thanks

(P.S.-sorry for threadjack)

I held it at about 4K and slipped it. I gradually increased the throttle with the slipping. For some reason they weren't giving out 60' times that night, which was mainly what I was interested in seeing. They said it was because it was only the T&T night, which still doesn't make any sense to me.

Well if they tune it right, KA can last a good 400hp. But why bother risking. They just doing to market their kit. No one would stupid enough to run stock KA's at 400hp daily. Go rebuild the KA heeh now we talking =P. It's a 2.4L engine man.
