Post number 1 is a culmination of post's that got ruined with photobucket's money grab so I just posted everything here with updated photo links (thanks Flickr). Scroll to page two and we'll pick up current info there. You can also follow the build on Instagram @Lees_Garage or YouTube "Lee's Garage". Thanks for following guys, I love sharing this stuff, especially on the forums (old man, I know......)!

Hey everyone! My name is Randy, and I like playing withcars. Lol. I’ve owned 5 S-Chassis prior to the two I used for this build, and seem to be a glutton for punishment. Let’s get into the fun stuff.

I was browsing craigslist when I stumbled upon a clean S13 fastback for what I thought was a killer price. Called the owner, and found out it was an original owner car with a couple bent valves. AAA was towing it home for me the next morning.

Excited to once again own a S-Chassis, I hit the forums looking for parts to get this thing back on the road. I found a Zilvia member selling his recently wrecked car with loads of goodies. I was towing that home the very next day.

Remember, my project car still has an auto trans, and bent valves, so it was now time for a drivetrain swap.

Let’s kick this off by yanking the motor/auto trans

While installing the clutch pedal, etc, I found a bunch ofbutchered wiring under the dash, and decided to swap the entire harness. Thiswould also make the manual swap more complete.

Trying to make it as oem as possible.

Everything aside from the hood and fenders was stripped, butI didn’t get photos of it all.

Decided to swap to 5-lug. I used J30 front hubs and z32rears. Had to machine a about 7 thousandths off of the J30’s to press the S13bearings into them.

What's impressive is that it seems most of the work is done by yourself.

Brought the car home this week to do some mechanical work and get the ride height/alignment dialed in before we start making the body fit the wheels/tires. I'm about a 1/2" too low in the rear, as I want the ride height to be about where the front is currently. After cambering the rear (maybe too much as I'm looking for 2* in the rear) it doesn't look like much work will have to be done. This makes me happy as I am trying to keep the body as stock looking as possible. I am running 17x9 +25 w/ 255/40's and a 5mm spacer up front. I am way to close to the coil and may have to go to an affective offset of +15 in the front.

Nice updates! It is refreshing to see proper size wheel/tire combo on an S chassis. I am interested to hear how well those tires perform on the street. I look forward to seeing this progress.

Thanks guys. I am currently running the RS-3's on my Evo (DD 100 miles a day with some autox and track days). I've only put 1000 miles on the street and 1 autox, but so far so good. A friend of mine claims he got 30k miles and 10 autox's on a set he had on his FR-S. We shall see.

Buy crimsonrocketts rotora set up.

Eventually I'll buy a Wilwood setup (low cost pads, and lots of pads to choose from), or put an AP Racing or Wilwood setup on my evo and throw the Evo's Brembo's on this.

I am hesitant to upgrade to big brakes with stock power due to the added weight. With the current pad/rotor combination it should be perfect for autox, as I wont be getting too much heat into them, but will lack on open track with lots of hard braking lap after lap. I will be running some ducting and try to use the stock brakes as long as possible.

One of my main goals with this project has been to do as much as I can personally, and it has turned into an amazing learning experience.

I was looking for someone to do some portwork, and a friend introduced me to an older gentleman who has been building heads for ~40yrs. After speaking with him a few times I came to the realization that he didn't want to just build my head, he wanted to teach me to do it myself. :coold:I'm extremely grateful to be able to learn from someone with so much knowledge! It's disappointing that so much of this knowledge will be gone when he's gone. I wish I could just plug a usb into his brain and download it all!

Today we finally got into the actual portwork :naughty:

I am including some pictures of his shop ( a two car garage with walking room only) because it is filled with all sorts of treasure.

Entering the shop.

Subscribed for future updates! Should have subbed way earlier, didn't realize this build thread and that I actually purchased something from you in the past before I sold you the parts car. What a progress you've made!

If you still have those Work CR Kais, let me know if you're interested in selling them back. I'm eventually going to get back into the game again after I sell my other cars.:2f2f:

What's up everyone! I've been MIA for a while due to new outlet platforms, new kids, different house, life life life, but I'm back, checking in to let you all know that this build hasn't died!

The car hasn't progressed much, mostly sat around and collected dust, but I want to finish her as much today, as the day I purchased her.

I have been a little distracted with a track ready Civic sedan (pictured below) I purchased as a seat time car, but am ready to move on full blast with the 240 now.

The car has returned to the bodyshop to have the bodywork completed, engine bay, and jambs painted for now. I also sold the TC105's and purchased a set of 350z 17x8 rears. The 255's are a little big for these, so I'll be switching to a set of 235's.

Current goal is to "just get it on the road" and enjoy it.

As I type this I realize how much I've missed the forums. The other outlets are fun, but there is something satisfying about reading through a build thread. (Reading CamryOnBronze recent blog post's has helped me realize this). Looking forward to hanging out on here again.

Anyway, here is the current state of my junk. :hide:
