probably didnt search hard enough but would i overboost if i were to have 3" 80mm piping all the way through? (downpipe to exhaust tip). This is on a stock SR nothing special just some cooling stuff but thats it but no big factor. I kno that there wouldnt be much back pressure so how much boost would there be and would it be safe without it overboosting and blowing up the motor?

And if it does overboost too much what are some options to go about decreasing the boost without spending loads of money? fuel management system or ecu program or (being ghetto but really works) make a restriction in the piping using a frying pan and cuttin out a gasket size to place in between the piping to give it back pressure. any other options?

The frying pan idea isnt such a bad idea cuz my friend was thinkin about doin the same thing on his FC but may be had to fabricate one.

you... need... to read more.... your exhaust sizing is not going to determine how much boost you run. please god spend the rest of the day searching on how a turbo'd car works. Im not even going to get into that frying pan thing... thats just dumb sounding on levels i dont have the patience for.

short answers 1)go read a book on turbo charged engines

I'd say a big exhaust does effect the boost. I only run around 10ish psi around town, but when I use my exhaust cutout (right on the 3" downpipe) boost spikes up to 14 psi for a half-second, but then drops back down.

But seriously, you don't have to worry about it, especially being at stock boost.

BTW, the frying pan idea == horrible. :)

No he's not kidding. I know him.. FOR REALZ. My advice to him was that he wouldn't see more than 1 or 2 psi over stock with downpipe and testpipe. The rotary guys say they see a consistent 2psi with exhaust.

rotary guys have to deal with some other technologoical nonsense too. either bigger injectors or a bypass so the computer doesnt freak out when it sees the higherboost level.
dont worry about overboosting because of 3" full exhaust

If you honestly have bad boost spike then you have wastegate issues, nothing to do with your exhaust size.

And I to, wish this was a joke. Some people.

My sr was seeing 8.5 psi with full exhuast. Stock ECU and sidemount should handle up to 10psi safely.

Get a exhaust betterfly because with that you can incressbeck pressure and quite you exhaust at the sam time thank you good bye

From what i've read it shouldn't effect it.

However, from what i've experience it does...
My car went from a dual N1 in an s14 at 6 psi, then to a s13 with a 3 inch straight pipe also at 6 psi but it spiked to 8... But that's probably because the boost controller needs to relearn the way to control my boost....

A 3 inch exhaust shouldn't cause spiking worth worrying about with a regular stock wastegate...
There are a lot of people running stock SR's with 3 inch piping as proof for you...
Do NOT make a restrictor. Your just asking for your turbo to send its blades into your combustion chamber.

I wish the exaust did not fuk wth boost pressure...

I went from 6psi with a CAT to 11psi without... Full 3inch all the way out...

And no its not the boost controllers fault... Its stock Greddy kit pressure.. I had to make my Rod longer to get it down to 10psi. I needa make it longer still...

This has to be a joke. It really depends what you consider overboosting.
boosting over your stock psi? boosting over the max of the turbo?
i gained 1psi with a down pipe and exhaust (with cat and res)

Rotary motors will gain like 25whp with an exhaust upgrade hehe.

Make a DIY thread on the frying pan mod. =D
