my temp gauge isnt working so i went and got a coolant sensor from the dealership. i know the sensor is located near the intake manifold but there are two there. a black one with a single prong and a red one with two prongs. the part i bought from the dealership has one prong but i've heard that the sensor is the bigger red one. if one is the temp sensor then what is the other plug. are they both temp sensors and one sends a signal to the gauge while the other sends a signal to the ecu or something?

there is no gold sensor. theres a red one and a black one. both the actual sensors are gold in color but not the plugs that show. i have a fsm pdf and i cant find it in there. its probably there but those pdf's are such a bitch to look through when your computer sucks like mine. and i searched. and searched. and searched on three different forums so i thought it would be easier to ask and spend time working on the car than to spend more time doing all the above.

The sensor with one prong is the temp gauge sensor...the "red" capped sensor is the one for the ECU. BTW where did you get the FSM in PDF?
