View Full Version : Motor mounts and engine positioning?

I have a question about motor mounts. It seems like the cross member has slotted motor mounts holes. Presumably this is to make adjustments to the engine's position in the engine bay.
I have a notch top SR20DET swap and it's currently sitting at the very bottom of the slots. Is there a standard procedure to measure and have a correct engine placement? Or is it designed to sit like this?
Also, are the MM bottom nuts for the KA the same as the SR? I didn't do the swap so I don't know what they used.

The slots are there so that you can pick the engine up with motor mounts still installed. Think about it , if they weren't slotted the threads would drag since the mounts are angled inward towards the engine.
Yes the mounts are supposed to sit at the bottom of the slot.
Yes the KA/SR mounts are the same, therefore the nut should be the same.

And fair enough, I will use it as needed. But seriously, if this forum is worried about 'insignificant' threads, they might want to start by keeping the spambots at bay a little better. This is one of the worst case I've seen, half the top pages are spam.
Regardless, thanks again.

I agree, there are many discussions about the spam plaguing this forum. Hopefully we get some mod/admin changes soon that prevent it.

Also you trans mount help position the motor properly in the slots, since it is fixed it helps to put the motor in the right position.
