Hey guys I've been searching and found way too many hit and miss threads on this.
I picked up a 96 240 SE Auto a few weeks ago, and it drove fine for a little while. It started having an issue with when coming to a stop the revs would drop and it would die unless you put it in netural and rev it until you put it in drive again. Once in drive it would stumble and hesitate almost like a bad plug.
I swapped plugs, air and fuel filters, cap and rotor, knock sensor, front O2 and VSS.
I have a P1445 code left but it still has the stall and hesitation issue and don't think it is because of this code.
I've read about it maybe being a MAF or the IAA/IAC needing to be cleaned.
Does anyone have more concrete info?
Sorry if I just missed a better answer.

any check engine lights ? i spray the maf and iat sensors with brake cleaner , works great .
take it to autozone and have them read the codes on the obd2 . one of the best things i have bought is a ultragauge scanner , it even read pending bad codes , check it out, they are about $70 .
a bad egr valve ?

Yeah I have a code reader and it throws the p1445 for the evap canister like a lot of these do, but I don't think the problem is from that code. I'm going to get some cleaner and clean out the maf and iac. Would a fuel pump that is on the way out cause these type of issues?

i would think the fuel pump could also be the problem .

Okay. I swapped gas caps and took it in to town to get a new battery terminal for it and it threw the vss and started doing the usual. I got it back swapped the terminal and cleaned the maf. I blanked the codes and it ran good during an extended test. But as I left the gas station it threw the p1445 code as expected since I haven't addressed that yet. No other codes so I blanked it and we shall see how it does And report back.

Well clean the evap canister out and clean up a few other things but still has the stumble. It seems to be once you've been driving it for about 45 mins or more. I've gotta clean the iac but don't really think it's the issue based on it taking time to start acting up.

Still need to get my hands on a new egr. And haven't looked at the fuel pump yet.

Question. What could be the issue if the. Ar does not do these issues until it has been driven for about 30-45 mins and have been good and warm?

1445 is for the Evap purge control blah blah blah that's in between the intake manifold

Yeah, not worried about the 1445 as much as the issue for once I've been driving for a while. Just have to find time to get the purge control out and replaced.
