Before my newbness gets flamed, i have done alot of searches and not found an answer to this question. How can you tell if you have the new revised version or the origional version of the B&M Short Shifter? I just bought one and am worried it is the old version.
Here is a pic of exactly what mine looks like, except it didn't come with a knob.

Less than $200 through PDM Racing.
It's worth the money. The vibration that people refer to actually gets better with time. This shifter is awesome.
I put together an article discussin the installation process. Within that article I explain why it is so effective.

I paid $196 shipped from performance nissan parts, pretty cheap, and they have the nismo gt rubber shift knobs for $45. I am hopeing its the new version, but i guess its not a big deal either way as long as i remove that boot insert thing.

I removed that "boot insert" and it made no difference whatsoever in the noise my shifter makes. I have to believe its the metal to metal contact in the pivot ball area of the shifter. If youve ever taken one apart you'll know what im talking about. I'm sure B&M could remedy this by using teflon/nylon inserts in the pin sockets.
