wrench size in other countries???

alright i might get flamed for this...and it is a really stupid question..What size drive sockets do other countries use?? Do they use a metric version of the 1/2" and 3/8", or do they just use the same as the united states. Now i am not talking about the individual sockets just the rachet. if someone could clear this up that would be awesome. Peace :wtf:

i think its 3/8, 1/2 and so on for ratchets, i dunno, ive never seen any metric drive sizes, but i could be wrong.

The rest of the world uses 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch drive sockets just like we do.

You'll find a few SAE fasteners on any car. Seat belt bolts always use the same SAE thread. Nissan transmission and diff drain plugs have square drives designed to be turned with 1/2" ratchets.

thanks for clearing that up for me. that is what i was thinking but then why would they use a standard size when everywhere else they use the metric system. but thanks though.

because we are damn smart and came up with tools in the first place, hahahaha

its just one of those things that doesn't need to be changed. the metric system for tools is a really good idea since cars are now measured in millimeters. plus, its easier to know size diffferences between sockets
5 6 7 8 9 10 11 or... FRACTIONS. we're the only country still using the standard system and we're supposed to be the most retarded people around... irony... heh

Drive size are still in SAE up here, but most Nissan bolts use METRIC sockets. ;)
