it's not bad, but it's better to use it for auto-x and of course drifting, and the occasional canyon runs, even though its RWD (what most drag cars are), but if you wanna build a drag monster, swap in an RB-series motors and you're good to go, i'm in the process of doing a KA-T, just need to find a Ka24DE! haha

the only thing 240's are good for is gettin sideway! oh yea!
they're good for drag, drift, auto-x, togue, etc.
It just all depends on how you setup your car.
if you want to go all out on drag, go do a rb swap. If you want drifto or auto-x action. go with sr swap.
i do both drift and drag ;)

Speed is only how much money you have.. u can make any cars fast with money.. I'd prob go domestic since it'll be a whole lot cheaper and prob more exciting if you just want to go straight.

240sx is a great platform for drag racing.
beef up the rear end a little, adn get some internal work on the stock motor, nice turbo kit and tuning, 10 second passes have been done repeatedly with ease if done right.

You have to put in a solid rear axle and leaf springs to hook up off the line.

that had to have been a joke.

i always had the notion that you could go fast for much cheaper if you went domestic. not saying the 240 (or any other car) doesn't have potential, but you have to look at the money you'll spend getting there.

I'd say get a foxbody Mustang 5.0 with a good head and Supercharge it...that'd be a great drag race car.
On a side note: I was getting some tires the yesterday at America's Tire Company. Earlier, I told one of the workers that I race the car on the track. So later on in the garage, a coworker asks me, "Do you drift?!" The guy I told that I race it to said, "Yeah, that's what he does!" I didn't say that!...since when is drifting == racing? So I reply "Pfft, no. Grip all the way!" And what does the guy reply? "Ohhh, why not? You should SELL IT THEN." DRIFT IS OVERRATED!

You can have your thread back now. You could probably break into the 12s without too much money. But a mustang will get you there faster and cheaper.

This should go in chat, but anyways.
Of course it's easier to drag a Mustang for less, hello, 8 cylinders? even the 6 cyl. is better. But that's not what he's asking. He wanting to know about 240s on the strip, hence asking this question in a 240 forum...
Just get a turbo kit and a good rear end and your set for the drags. At least until the engine blows....but have fun until then!!
Didn't mean to sound harse, just a long day.

*hands down, :werd:
take for example two friends; 1 white guy, 1 black guy
white guy; civic hatch 3k, gsr motor 4ish?, taabo kit + ic 4-5ish = 11-12ish and it hits low to mid 13s on decent tires. kick in the balls to drive tho, slippage all the way thru 2nd wen u dump the clutch :D
black guy; foxbody 5.0 stang 3k, supercharger 2k..comes up 2 a grand total of lets say 7grand + sum misc....passing time? high 12s with a bad clutch....stupid torque = whip lasshing fun
its all about your wallet size, how big it is or how big u wanna dig a hole :)

or you can buy a fox body , and a bottle , and a set of slicks and run 12's all day. for much cheaper.
or you can get heads/cam ls1 and run 10's all day on a bottle.
or you can answer the guys question and quit acting like blown fox's are something hes gonna wanna do. besides the fact it will handle like complete crap and fox bodys have poor build quality i think its totally irrelevant to what the guy asked. peopel get tired of seeign american iron go down the strip. while the civic costs more, its much funner to blow a c5's doors off on the highway in a civic than it is a ghetto looking fox with spray. different strokes for different folks. and always a different budget.
anwyays back on topic, reminiescence guy, whats your budget /wants etc?

If I'd had to go import drag.. i'd prob go DSM.. impressive speed for pretty cheap.
a first gen DSM that is..

im with mikespeed on that one,
blowing the doors off a c5 with a civic is wayyy more fun than a boroboro foxbody. :coold:

money is no problem, not in a rush or anything like that, but i'm thinkin about droppin an sr20det, in a 95 240, just to let u know

Relax your sphincters, gentlemen. He asked a question related to drag racing and I gave him another option. I'm trying to say that I think he'd be dissapointed in a 240 for drag racing.
blowing the doors off a c5 with a civic is wayyy more fun than a boroboro foxbody.
And then you look at your bank account and feel sad. What's with anti-Mustang people? Have you guys ever even been in one? It's nice having torque down low! And I don't know where you're getting the build quality deal, it's not like a 240sx is that great...with epoxy holding a lot of the body together, it's a so-so chassis.
Enough about that.
Get an SR & add a big turbo and have fun.

if i wanted an importdrag myself, 2nd gen rx-7. dsm=awd and i'd hate worrying about my poor clutch. rx-7's are just way to easy to make fast as well.
