Nismo, where are you from and what color is that s13 front end you're thinkin' about replacing? I might be able to help you afford some s15 parts, if ya catch my drift. =)

If you do the conversion you have to post some pics

that car looks off. i think the other conversion, with lights all the way across the front looks much better.

I don't like the added vent on the hood (looks like a turbo hood scope from an early 300zx turned backwards) makes the hood look cluttered. Besides that I think it lloks clean. Though I would probably go with a s13 silvia conversion instead.

That looks to be functional... not sure what for, but it's not very shiny, and not placed for asthetics...

I don't doubt that it is functional in the fact that it vents a small amount of air from the engine, but I would get rid of it for the cause of asthetics.

do functional hood vents even exist???

they don't do anything as far as i'm concerned, unless your driving 100mph everywhere, literally

Vancouver is right. The other S13 that came with the lights all the way across is a cool, original, and authentic JDM conversion for the U.S. spec S13. I have a friend that is in the prcess of purchasing one right now and it looks great.

It's a fine looking car, but some things ARE a bit overboard, that bigass ugly wing on the back, the body kit is a little much. Don't get me wrong, the evil looking s15 headlights are badass, but the bumper kit is too big and kinda cheesy looking, with the lip sticking out at the bottom contrasted with the smoother sides of the car. Stickers only make Hondas go faster. . . As I see it, if it doesn't serve a purpose, it don't belong on the car Then again, it could just be me, I find the US s13 to be flarking beautiful as it is

Vancouver: Functional hood vents exist, just not usually on a 240. The WRX mounts a turbo under it's hood vent.

Actually the Impreza has a scoop (scoop sucks in air, vent lets air out) all just dumb verbage. A functional vent would be something that vents air out of a hot spot in the engine.

That is a nice looking car, FastNissan.
Maybe just a bit too fancy for my tastes, but, hey, as long as you like it that's all that matters.
All I ask is that you take off the stickers, they're not too bad, but they are kinda tacky.

Eef, i cant even see the pic, someone post it under their host please.

I personally think that one looks badass, I don't like the looks of those year 240's much but that one is fucking tastey wheat

the scoops/vents on the wrx are not functional.

09-21-2001, 07:44 AM
They are fully functional. Do some research !

i have. scoops are functional above 90mph on some cars. i've never heard of a car with functional scoops at low speeds. look at scc when they had their impreza at one lap of america. The took the plastic inserts and moulding out of the hood scoops just to get some air in, cause the scoops were doing nothing. remember, they were really racing too, not just street driving.

now, if you've got something that refutes that, please share....

09-21-2001, 10:56 AM
hey, if you like scoops and vents and wings, fine. but just admit that they are just for looks.

09-21-2001, 11:02 AM
I DON'T like them on non-turbos, slow-assed cars such as dodge neons and base-model mustangs. As far as I know, the side scoops on the WRX bring some air to their brakes, and if my memory serves me correctly the intake is somewhat parallel with the position of the hood scoop. The car's got a turbo, a scoop on a turbo is always somewhat functional.

Doesn't the intercooler sit on top under the scoop on the WRX? Might not make a huge difference, but I'm sure it's somewhat functional. At least it's not like the Mustang's scoop which is completely clossed off with honeycomb plastic crap.

ca18guy

Yeah the WRX intercooler is right under the scoop, can't think of a more funtional scoop then that!

The JDM S13 conversion looks like a Nissan Stanza to me

09-21-2001, 12:51 PM
first off, a neon isn't a slow-assed car. my old neon acr would kick ass on a regular basis. can't beat a really light car.

i thought that the intercooler was at the front on the wrx, so i'll give you guys that one, but the 4 other scoosp on the hood ARE useless.
