Hey everyone, I was wondering what you all think is the best FLCA to get for a beginner drifter. I've gone through Circuit Sports (Wore a joint out) and EM Usa (Completely snapped it in half). Ive been researching for aftermarket FLCAs but I want to know what to have based on what the community says. The car is a 89 240sx and it is a daily driver, with occasional hard runs through the canyons. Any help is appreciated.

Pbm or ikeya formula.

Where can I buy the Ikeyas? The PBMs are kind of pricey for me. As much as I would love to get the high end parts, I dont have any money being a full time college student.

I think ikeya are more expesive than pbm.. http://www-en.ikeya-f.co.jp/category/1983335.html

If you can keep an eye on zilvia forsale section for a bit, then you can find pbms for a good deal. Seen them go for ~ $350's few times.

Ok, Youve got my interest in those PBMs. If you could help me understand what they are though, I need help knowing what to put my sights on.

Theres the Limit Break FLCA going for 800 dollars, the straight FLCA and the bent one going for 550. Whats the difference between the three? If it helps, Ive got a Tein Basic suspension kit with EM usa arms all around.

I don't think there is a dealer for Ikeya's over here. They wouldn't be much cheaper than the PBM's anyway, if at all.

There isn't really a 'middle-of-the-road' for these parts. You either buck up and pay for quality, or cheap out and go through two piece of shit parts like you already did.

Patience, save up for the good stuff. If you don't have a job you shouldn't be modifying cars anyway.

Understood, I guess I'm saving up for PBMs next. I do have a job, but its difficult balancing out school, work, and putting my car together while she's falling apart. Are there any other parts that compete with Ikeya and PBM?

I hear you, I'm in a similar boat too with work and school. Just have to be patient.

GKtech makes awesome stuff as well, but some of it isn't released yet, and they're in Australia so shipping is kind of pricey. Worth a look.

Why does the beginner drifter need aftermarket lcas?

Honest question.

That's actually a good point. Learn and make progress with what you have first. You don't need a built car/built suspension to drift. Just replace the bushings and ball joints with energy suspension and moog stuff if it's super worn out or something. MUCH cheaper.

A bit too late haha, My OEM lca are long gone and right now my car is stuck in the shop with a snapped lca. My very first part I bought was the Circuit Sports flca and it lasted about 2 years before going out. So if im gonna replace it, I want it done the best way possible.

Moog oem replacement FLCAS are <$100 for the pair and have new bushings and ball joints.

I have run both too (front & rear emusa, only rear CS ). No problem with circuit sports since i installed them, i guess they wear after some time. I still have not changed any ball joint on my car, it has been maybe a year and a half . Maybe the joint was bad. Can't you change it ? Some people used godspeed arms and modified them to install QA1 joints in them.

EmUsa was the shittiest thing i have ever bought. Nothing fitted, i had to mill new alignment spacers because they were out of round / bad size/ had play, the knuckle tapers were not the correct sizes. I could bend the RLCA by hand, i don't know what metal they use but it sure is not quality... when it was finally installed, it took a trip to my alignment place (20 miles) to develop play in most joints.

I wonder how this company is still in the business ... maybe because its customers die before they can complain ? Can't see any other explanation.

edit: ball joints wear. Getting 2 years out of them seems pretty ok to me. This will also happen with "quality arms" . Get rid of your emUsa while you still live though.

I was going to ask a similar question. Even a seasoned drifter doesn't really need them.

Moog oem replacement FLCAS are <$100 for the pair and have new bushings and ball joints.

This is the best thing you can do now. You can buy an extended oem flcas for about $100/$150.

Or Y33 OEM ones. Bolt on and are decently longer.

why not get flca and rlca? allows for more adjustability for anything. You don't have to be a FD driver to want adjustability. is it necessary no, but if the anyone wants to get them and deal with the ass pain involved with alignment,...why not!

Alright, I went and got myself some Limit Break PBMs and extended tie rods from Megan. Apparently I'm gonna be rolling with 40mm extended arms.

I asked the guys at pbm about fitment and stuff. Everything should fit.
