Yes, I am absolutely inept at computers now. I used to know what to do, but I got rid of all that knowledge and replaced it with car stuff.

Whenever I try to reformat my hard drive, XP tells me that something is using the hard drive and I cannot reformat. Even if I delete all non-critical running processes, it still says the same thing. Double-yoo-tee-eff, mate.

ok do you have the disc? put the disc in restart the computer and make sure you had boot to cd rom selected in the bios. Then xp will do the setup right there and you can pick to format C: and start over.

- place cd in drive
- restart computer
- Start pressing F1 before the WinXP loading screen comes up
- Should be 4-5 options, select the CD boot
- Blue screen should pop up
- Let it load (1-2mins)
- Press Enter
- Press I Agree (F8)
- Follow Directions, pretty easy GL

I gave up on that for now. I just want to get my sound working again... I miss my streaming trance. I can do an engine rebuild, but I can't for the life of me get my computer running great. Awesome.

firstly i suggest you giving up using a computer. but anyways easiest way to go about it is to...
-go to www.bootdisk.com
-download and install windows 98 bootdisk *doesn't matter but that's my preference
-restart computer with floppy in drive
-after it boots into command prompt run fdisk
-delete partition
-restart comp with winXP cd and have it format the harddrive with NTFS system

my sound works very well. klipsch 5.1 ultras and an audigy 2 zs platinum, oh on a side note why not just get a sound card they are cheap. quit using onboard sound.

It's not onboard.

Are you kidding me, spend money on my computer? Yeah, right... all my money goes into my car.
