Hi my old h2o pump gone bad i ordered a new one from enjuku for 120 bucks and it hasnt gotten here. So far it seems liek itll be a simple replacement, if anybody has any corrections to this method plz post. Also anybody know a good sealant to compensate for missing gaskets if the waterpump doesnt come with one?

1. Losen belt off alternator, take it off h2o pump pulley.
2. Unbolt pulley and clutch fan off of water pump.
3. Unbolt waterpump from the block and allow coolant to drain into a bucket.
4. Remove any of the old gasket, and put new gasket on the new waterpump.
5. Bolt new H2o pump to the block and bolt pulley and clutch fan back on.
6. Slip belt over pulley and retension it.
7. Refill coolant levels and startup

I've never done this before so i don't want to mess anything up any pointers would be helpful, thanks!

Also, are there torque specs i need to follow for bolting the H2O Pump onto the block?

.. just wandering. thanks -mike

Dont overtight a bolt .. you dont want to break it in the block.

:edit:
I dont know the torque spec, maybe 15 20 lbs

hopefully your water pump comes with new studs or else you'll have to back out the ones in your old one (kinda a pain in the butt)

Or you can get extra long bolts of the same thread and bolt the fan/pulley assembly into the water pump from the front. (just make sure the back of the bolts don't hit anything while spinning.

This is what I ended up doing because I couldn't get the old hardware out of the old pump.

Oh yeah, if i were you i'd get this stuff to seal the new water pump seal....

It's the only stuff i've used that hasn't leaked on me.

top..

just a Q would a bad waterpump cause a car to be "slower"? just curious if my car will run better with new pump, im sure youd say itll run cooler but my old pump works its just bent and wobbles like a mofo.

mayB a dumb Question but had to ask, thanks

Drian coolant from rad' and block

remove fan shroud.
loosen nuts pully
remove p/s belt and loosen alt to remove main belt, remove pully
remove water pump.

Remove any liquid gasket on mating surface of block.

Attach pully to new water pump

Apply liquid gasket to water pump mating surface

torque to 12-15 lbs

allow for liquid gasket to harden... put the belts back on

add 50/50 mix

bleed system.

kid zelda u know any place that sells good liquidgasket thats not like 16bux a pop?

and is it really necessary to torque the bolts to exact, i mean as long as theirs an even seal it doesnt matter right? reason being i dont have a torque wrench.

If you do not have a torque wrench, tighten the bolts down with a 1/4' rachet, this way you reduce the chance of breaking off a bolt.

Permatex is good, local parts store.
