Geezus, thats some expensive insurance. Can you post pics of the car? Hard to give an opinion sight unseen. You didn't even mention which engine is in there. $8k for an SR swapped kouki isn't unrealistic, but I'd be very skeptical of the 400-500hp claims on the stock engine. Don't settle for just any old shit pile. Stay patient.

and from what you just posted... I would steer clear of that car. Most of the good 240 are gone, sad to say it. Ruined.
You do not want something that needs work right away after you buy it (unless you intent to spend $10000+ on it right away and install a new engine)

Reason is, even if you buy something that does NOT need work right away, it will shortly. these cars are old and... well, they need tlc to put it lightly.

If you have 6K; buy a car for $3K and the other $3K will go to replacing everything that needs fixin'

patience is a virtue. Unless you're making more than $1500 a month $380 on insurance alone will kill you. I strongly suggest buying a car/ truck that you can insure for less. Then buy the car you want in a couple years when you have more spare time and make more money. Even if you can cut insurance down by $100/mo by buying an old ranger or something, you saved $1200 in a year... that's a set of decent coilovers. Plus once you go accident free for a year, you can shop around for drastically cheaper insurance, and put the money you saved buying a cheaper vehicle+ the money saved on insurance and buy the car you want. i mean seriously, that's damn near $5k just for insurance for a year.

You've lived 24 years without a kouki... one or two more years won't kill you.

he's BSing out his ass and you should just stay away from the guy.

if he's lying to you like that, it's best to just not buy the car and get ripped off.

Whoa... A $9k KA-T with stock internals and HKS parts? WTF parts does HKS make for the KA? lol... This is sounding more & more sketchy by the minute.
