I would piece together a bottom mount setup that way you can use SR style intercooler kits, o2 housings, downpipes, etc. and it makes it a bit easier and more 'bolt on' as you dont really have to fab anything except the oil drain tube and a few misc things.

We ran a S14 T28, DOC Race Manifold, ISIS Performance FMIC kit, o2 housing, and downpipe, and some stock SR 370cc injectors with a Z32 maf and an RS Enthalpy ROM tune and the car made 270rwhp and 270 tq at 12psi. We could have made more but the injectors would not support more power and we didnt want to run much more than 12psi as it was a stock bottom end with 150k and just a cometic gasket and ARP studs.

That car has been driving around for 2+ years now without any issue like that.

Pretty much this.

I just put a kit together and tbh unless you find the stuff for really cheap/free it's about the same price to just buy and swap in an SR.

You need money, and lots of it, since you don't have the knowledge.

First of all, make sure your engine is healthy. Do a compression and leak down test.

I'd go with a top mount setup with a 50 trim t3/t4 with 740cc nismo injectors, z32 mafs and a Jimwolftechnology or Enthalpy RS reflashed ECU. There's so much more potential with that setup and while you may not be able to use all of that potential with the KA's stock internals, even at 8-12 psi you would probably put down a good 250-300rwhp on stock internals and the turbo won't even be breaking a sweat. The 50 trim kicks on at about 3500 and it's quite a kick with a .63 a/r.

There's always the option to rebuild the engine later on with forged internals and make use of that extra HP ceiling with that setup by simply turning up the boost. Top mount setups are easier to work on and aren't plagued with the hardware woes that bottom mount setups usually have. Just food for thought.

The only advantage a bottom mount setup has IMO is looking stock. There are setups out there using modified SR parts that look super stock and could get you out of a ticket should an officer pop your hood. I guess there's also a lower center of gravity with a bottom mount setup, but I'm sure it's not enough to really make a difference.
