I agree, one of my fav drivers. I believe the stories that say he got electrocuted, I don't buy that it was only a concussion after the crash. Jenson Button must be very uncomfortable right now.

^^^Yeah, I really don't like Vettel at all. But I found it really odd to see him switch teams after just 1 losing season. Its like, if he doesn't have an overwhelmingly dominant car, he just falls apart instead of working with what he's got. Jensen + Alonso is going to be so strange. I love Jensen Button, but Alonso is such an anti-hero to me. I want to hate him, but he's just too damn good! Alonso has turned out some truly heroic drives in some truly shitty cars... lol

I'm the same way! Been having to torrent the races after they air, but that can be unreliable. Need to find a good streaming site...

It really is not odd when you think about the fact that Schumacher was Vettels idol since Vettel was a kid. Of course he is going to want to go to Ferrari at some time in career. He already stacked up a phenomenal winning streak at Red Bull that would be hard to continue. It was time to go to the penultimate team in F1.

I was more surprised about Fernando getting the heave ho from Ferrari . Alsonso pulled some great performances out Ferrari at a time when there was much confusion and the chassis was less than ideal.
He actually represent a long time tradition at Ferrari of Spanish drivers in Italian cars.
Now granted Seb is a record breaking world champion and that goes right back to the whole Schumacher thing. Which does put a bit more perspective on the whole turnaround.

So here we are practice tonight 9:30 pacific. Sattelite TV man.

Those asking for streams, check your PMs. :)

The first race was pretty odd. Didn't like the reduced grid of 14 cars and only 11 finishing. Albert Park did not look as great this year either and there were minimal on track battles. I was more entertained by all the surrounding story lines happening off track for the weekend.

Hopefully Malaysia is a better show.

Maya ladies should be better. Manor racing has promised they'll race for sure. Albert park looked dirty because of high than usual wind activity and was blowing lots of debris on the track.

I have high hopes that Ferrari and Williams can make some commotion behind Mercedes.

Great race! First time I have full respect for Vettel. Should be an exciting season and Williams, Renault, Sauber and Torro Rosso are keeping things interesting in the middle.

I started watching the NBCSN broadcast I DVR'd and it was annoying as fuck. Found out BBC was covering this one (as well as every other race it seems) so I grabbed the recording. Holy crap! It's 100x better than even the SkySports coverage! :eek3:

Ya I really feel Lewis got royally screwed out of a win for the sake of giving Nico a three time win at Monaco. Nico is a good driver but not quite at the level of Hamilton.

It definitely felt like a sympathy hwin as Lewis had it sewn up and that last minute pit call just hosed him.
Now granted this probably was a honest mistake but how could Lewis's chief mechanic be so dumb?

Yeah poor lewis that was crap. Not happy that Rosberg is now being compared to senna for three wins there in a row. If you can even call being handed like 15 seconds on a silver platter winning.

Nico robbed Ricciardo of a win. He should have been penalized.
What happened to Williams this race? They should have been in the top mix.
Poor Kimi.
Honda seems to be getting it together.

It was fun to watch Mercedes melt down after not claiming the start. Hamilton made a rookie status mistake that first lap.
And yeah I'm excited for Honda. They both had great drives. Alonso finished P5 ahead of Hamilton haha. Red bull seems to slowly be getting better as well, maybe Renault is finally figuring their shit out.

Here we go on another couple week break :-/

Good for Raikkonen not sucking complete ass in Abu Dhabi. I think that put him up to 4th in the drivers standings ahead of Bottas. Although Vettel still ran a way better race. Pissed I missed quali, Vettel must've just trashed his lap or something. Verstappen was gettin a little too hyphy he needs to cool them tits.

I thought we were just ignoring that.

Rumored concept liveries for Haas. I hope they're at least better than Marussia was. Cause 'murica.

Of course we don't really know until the official unveiling on February 21st right before winter testing. I really hope we see them out there, the first car's being built as we speak so it's crunch time as fuck. Then in 2017 they're gonna get blindsided by all the supposed changes that are supposed to make the cars "6 seconds a lap" faster. Say goodbye to overtaking.

SoundEfx
01-21-2016, 11:59 AM
So let me ask this. Do you think that lack of overtaking is due to the cars or the track?

Because in my opinion, Indy has more 'multi-line' tracks that drivers could choose which makes the race a little more exciting. With F1, most of the races I see comes down to pit stop times. Yes, you can gain ground, but over taking is almost impossible.

Again, just my opinion.

!Zar!
01-24-2016, 12:12 AM
Overtaking is hard solely because the cars are so aero dependent. The moment a trailing car gets close to the car ahead, the dirty air kills all downforce. Mechanical grip helps overcome this, but tire degradation goes way up when this happens.

Jibbberish
01-24-2016, 11:53 PM
Yeah F1 cars make a lot more downforce than Indy cars. I think I read Indy cars make 1:1 at like 190km/h and F1 cars make 1:1 at like 130km/h and nearly 2:1 at 190.

SoundEfx
01-27-2016, 12:44 AM
That makes sense, but doesn't that mean that it would come down to each driver's skill to handle the car when being passed with less down force?

I watch both type of races and to me, even though Indy is indeed slower, it's more fun to watch because you can pass at most corners. In F1, all you have to do is start up front and make sure your pit stops are on point.

Sway500
01-27-2016, 10:09 AM
You would think it would come down to driver skill, but the dirty air from the car in front "stalls" the aero produced by the car behind. If the chassis are the same, it means you can't use you chassis strength against the other car as you will both have the same strengths, and you will also have less downforce due to the dirty air of the leading car so its a lose lose unless you have the advantage of fresh rubber, which you could lose if you try to overtake too many times due to accelerated deg.

SoundEfx
01-27-2016, 11:45 AM
I hear you. So it basically comes down to the same thing, the car in front will stay in front.

Jibbberish
03-19-2016, 08:57 PM
So, this new quali format is ass. I get that they're trying to make it exciting or whatever but man if you get dealt a shit hand with track position you're pretty much screwed. But if you want good track position, you gotta sit at the end of the damn pit straight for like 4 hours while your temps fall apart.

It's already going bye bye. It only took to the beginning of the Australian Grand Prix for the officials to hear loud and clear. Even the announcers on NBC sports mentioned it during their broadcast.

On the other race tip it was an awesome race and a great season opener regardless of the fact that qualifying did suck complete ass. Lol

The entrance tickets are not bad. It's the Hotels and parking that gets crazy. In fact book your hotel soon as the rates go through the ceiling. Parking is $250 yup $250! So best idea is to get a Hotel with a shuttle to the track to save there.

150 or so a night for hotel isn't terrible. probably can find cheaper not going through the f1 website. probably about 1500, 2 grand for a good weekend with food and drinks and hotel for 4 nights with parking and rental car. hmmm, to go to somewhere sunny and tropical for vacation this year or go to texas and see my first f1 race. decisions...

but, hopefully this new quali setup is gone for china. at least the last race was pretty exciting, and HAAS is looking to be in good form. I'd love to see seb or kimi put a hurting on nico and lewis though. but we'll see. I feel bad for jenson and Alonso though lol

I've got Netflix and amazon prime for tv shows and movies. might look into the direct tv or dish route if its a couple year fixed rate for a good deal, but id rather just have fast internet by itself vs a bunch of channels I never watch just for nbc sports
