Watched a documentary today (here in England UK) about the US streetracing scene. I must admit before watching it i observed you on these forums talking about  "the Honda boys" and i didn`t know what you were talking about. But now i`m all clued up on it.
Large groups gathering at restaurant carparks just off a good stretch of road to race their imports. They were mostly Hondas (Civic to name but one) and some guy had an RX-7. They`d also go to this drag racing place where they`d try and beat each others times to take a bit more respect out onto the streets till the next meet. Engines would pack up , the police would stop the streetracing and ban those involved who`s insurance would then be canceled automatically. It was all good stuff. I bet none of you know what i`m talking about do ya?
Oh well...

I've been caught before but i never had my insurance cancelled because of it. They basically just take your name down and tell you to not come back or else you will be arrested. But yeah, its all part of the game...

hahah all my buddies are on that list in boston... but i always been lucky....
you are not in england so they dont cancel your insurance....
street racing is fun and exciting... running from the cops is such a rush... to me that is more or a rush than the 1/4 mile...

in a vancouver suburb, there is a bubble-tea place where a bunch of ppl meet at 2 or 3 am, and them go out and race.  the police recently started meeting there too...

its too bad, cause there was a bunch of nice cars, ferrari f355, 2 nsx's, a supra, and others.  

there's been a couple of big crashes in the past year, so now racing is a seperate charge on top of speeding, dangerous driving, etc.  HUGE FINES and they take your car.

down here in houston they meet at sandwich shops at around 10 on fridays and saturdays...there isnt much racing but I've seen 6 vipers lined up (one of them actually had nitrous in it...LoL), corvettes old and new, 5 subaru wrx's and a bunch of rx7s....then there's the ghetto corner of the parking lot with all the ricers....I venture over there to laugh and for the occasional supra but I have never once seen a 240...=(

yeah, I have a friend that street races.  he's only 15.  I mean, for a second, I told him he was crazy.  then I thought about it for a minute, well ####, if street racing is illegal in the first place, why even have a license to do it?? I mean if you get caught, then that makes it even worse, but still!! just wanted to add that in there

No, he is crazy. At 15 your not a good enough driver to be driving normally let alone racing. If I lined up next to him knowing that, I doubt I would race him. No need to have him (obviosly he has no insurance) possible hit me if he loses control. But for all I know he could have been raised at a race track and has raced legally since he was little but I doubt that.

I don't have any respect for people that drive without a license (besides on private property). We all waited, why the #### can't they? It's stupid.

well yeah, I do not support it in any way, because I only have a month before I can drive legally, and I just feel like jacking my car and taking it out on the streets, but I KNOW that I can't so I don't.  and because my parents hid the keys!! haha but I mean, he told me, and he does somewhat have a point, but I would not do that at all.

Good, be careful when you're driving too. Personally when i've got kids i'm gonna have em start with a car that's not very ballzy, then after about 3 or 4 months of drivin that, they can have a skyline, lol

I seriously plan on collecting and tuning cars for the rest of my life. I'll start my kids out with a... I havent had any speeding tickets but I have had tickets from running red lights. &nbsp;Just 2 months ago I was caught on camera running a red light (California has those sneaker cameras <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> ) &nbsp;I also have had 2 wreckless driving tickets for racing <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Been almost caught in the process of racing. &nbsp;Cop pulled out and turned on his/her sirens and chased us but the guy I was racing (newer year Firebird, i dunno what year I dont keep myself to date on domestic junk) pulled over and the cop gave him a ticket and didnt bother with me <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

oy, tell me about it. I was just about to race a friend of mine's girl, when I saw a cruiser pull up at the intersection, I threw it into reverse ASAP and practiced my awesome paralell parking skills and got right behind her again. Thank god I was fast enough and he didn't see a thing. I'm going to be a LOT more careful from now on. Probably won't street race for a LONG time, that was just too close.
