Car turns off when lights switch on...

Well, like the topic says. I have a big problem. My car runs fine, until I turn on the lights. Then the whole car just died and it can't be turned on due to a dead battery. The battery doesn't seem to be charging. I changed the alt. last night and at least the car runs now, but now that new problem has come up. Anyone have any clues?

I'm thinking its an eletrical problem somewhere in the car.

You installed the alternator correctly, right? Did you take the old alternator to Autozone and get it tested? They'll do that for free.. Check the new alternator too, the alternator in my dad's truck went out and my brother and I put a new one on it and the new one crapped out after a few days.
