Ive been looking around to do a swap for my 96 240sx and i know that srswap is the most reliable when it comes to doing it on the east coast however-- i came across www.totaljdm.com and found engines there for thousands cheaper... is it worth it? and has anyone had any experience with them.

Let me know

We did a group buy with them back in Feb. got 3 engines. My engine was okay, had a 3 puck racing clutch in it. and they originally sent the wrong ecu. They got a new one out to me, but I had to waste time sending the wrong one back and wait for the correct one. My water pump is making noise so I'm replacing it, but what can you expect w/ a used motor. Other than that it's running fine.

My friend still hasn't got his motor up and running yet. Mostly b/c of time and money... He's installing an s13 motor in an s14. As far as the motor he got... it came w/ a completely DESTROYED 3 puc clutch (like no clutch, just chucks of metal in the bell housing). The outside was fairly clean, but the timing is way off and we cleaned a little bit of oil from the intake mani. I'm sure we can get it up and running but I've been deployed and he's had no time to fuck with it...

The third (and final) engine was fucked. They didn't send him an ecu or MAF (and he paid extra for the MAF.) The motor it self was discusting and was never installed. He ended up sending it back b/c he saw something important broke and leaking, and they were being pains about replacing it. I never saw it so i can't say exactly what it was.

So as far as totaljdm, I'm gonna say it's hit or miss. either get a fine motor, or a worn out one.....

some other east coast (nothern VA) shops to look at are:

http://www.noyanusa.com/
http://www.japanstarmotor.com/index2.html

If I were you, I'd rent/borrow a truck/van and check out both places since they're very close to one another.

so whats the best reccomendation for getting a swap--- do i stay safe at srswap? or do i persue one of these other options--- im on a college budget so the money i have saved cant be wasted with a bad engine-- but the price differences are so big its tough to ignore.

he said its hit or miss...

so take your chances or shell out more for security. there's no safe answer.

edit: the girl looks normal to me...?
