So I'm picking up an s14 this weekend that caught fire. I'm getting a good deal through a family friend and I'm planning on restoring it.

Don't have specs quite yet but it is a fully built sr20det engine with a greddy turbo kit upgraded turbo haltech standalone and a shitty bomex body kit.

I'll have more info soon.

Looks like I'll need to replace everything from the dash up for the most part...

I'll be pulling the engine completely out then start rewiring everything... And also I'll be removing the dash asap.

As far as the engine goes, should I just replace valve cover gasket or should I go all the way in and do the head gasket as well.

This will not be an overnight project. This will be a project that I plan on doing for 6+ months and build it back up immaculate slowly.

Car ran perfect before fire but there was a gas leak in the owners garage and when he went to save the car and cranked it over to move the car the engine caught fire and he had to abandon car and worry about his family instead.

This will be my first s14 or 240 for that matter been reading like crazy.

Why do you need to replace the valve cover or head gasket?

As for the fire, was it leaking gasoline from the car or natural gas from the house?

I would honestly buy that one, but another s14 shell, take everything useful from that one and transfer it over and that's way less work for no reason when a shell would be cheaper and more time efficiant..
