I have a 95 S14 that had a bad steering rack. I just shelled out a decent amount of money for a remanufactured rack only to install it, get an alignment and there is play in it.

The U-joints on the steering column have zero play. I got a remanufactured pump and bled the system.
The play only seems to be there while the rack is centered. If I lift the front end off the ground, turn the wheel slightly left or right, and turn the steering column by hand, there is no play. I already sent my old rack back to get my core charge refunded, but I'm contemplating calling them to find out if they'll exchange it.
Are the gears in the rack bad? Is there some sort of adjustment to fix this? Any ideas are welcome!!
