Go to I-tunes radio and start listening. Their is an explosion of this genre. Names of albums and songs pop up, write down what you like. Just too many good ones to mention.

I could go on forever, PM if interested in more.

Paul Oakenfold - Live in Havana 02-21-99 (part 1) is dope. Paul Oakenfold - Another World Disc 1 & 2 are awesome trippy trance productions. DJ Tiësto Magik Six - Live in Amsterdam. Armin Van Buuren - Boundaries of Imagination. Faithless - Live in Berlin.

For progressive trance, get Marco V - Live Club Eau The Hague. Hybrid - Essential Mix Sundae Four Year Anniversary, as well as Mixset on Groove Radio & the Ministry of Sound Session. Sasha - Global Underground 013 Ibiza is great. Misja Helsloot - ID&T ClubMix 08-08-2001

For break beats, DJ Icey - Essential Mix is a must. DJ J-Break - Live from Orlando Florida is cool.

And just about all Global DJ Broadcast hosted from Party 93.1 South Florida's pure dance channel are quality...

Well, for what it is worth, I use to spin. Below is my list of my vinyls. If you like trance then you will dig all these. Just search for these songs or the creator/mixer of the song and it will lead you to more good tunes.

I really cant listen to much stuff anymore mainly becase noone in my life likes trance besides me. Plus it got trendy and got a bad image... hince the reason I quit spinning.

WeST, you are the man. I've just gotten into trance/techno stuff because it's completely anti-trendy right now. Everyone listens to punk, emo, or hip-hop around here and I'm kinda tired of it.

Cool you have bt remember on vinyl, i have that too :) (pvd's mix rules)

Pvd @ mayday 2000 is one of his best mayday sets. I forgot the rest, but like someone said, magik 6 is good too. Buy vorsprung dyk technik if you have the chance, i bought it with the tin case cost me $50 :(

oh yeah and if no one mentioned it, dj tiesto - in my memory is a good album

oh oh one more pvd @ rosenmontags rave 02-11-2002 is good too.

and as you can see, live sets are usually better than albums.

Iono bout trance, its just too slow for me. Im more into techno *faster beats* Anything under Radikal Techno label is pretty good. But lately, im back to listening to trip hop and jungle. If your into jungle, check out the newest Diesel Boy CD...Dungeon Master. That shiet is OOOOOFFF zeee HooooK. And trust me, this aint your regular Diesel CD. He changed his style for this album, not completely just drum and bass anymore. He threw in more synth and rhythms to it *ala trance like* Also, you can never go wrong with any Aprodite albums.

I have about 6 gigs in full / live sets / mix's I have. Another place to get some good free downloads, at least every now and then is http://www.tranceaddict.com/trancemp3.shtml This place is the shit too because lets say you hear a song in a set and you dont know the song, well most the time they have it listed out in the archive or forums.

what was it? i dont remember that.. unless it was 90.5, but thats SJSU station, anyway...

ATB and BT are nothing compared to what they got going on over in the underground scene. i really like Di.fm, always listen to it. Mars/Mystre kickass, all the bay arears should know that, Dyloot, w/e w/e. my style is more of a hard progressive. I like Dumonde, Jurgen Vries, etc.

Alright, this is my fav song, so find it. I have many other Fav songs... but this possibly takes the cheese. Song is called Atb vs Miss Jane - Its a Fine Day (Club Mix) EDIT: This is my fav song too... lol, Ayla - Ayla (Space Brothers Meets Sasha Collison Mix)

I have no way to record my sets sadly, I have all but the sound card to do so... o well. Someday.

If we had to name a few of my fav Producers/DJ's then this is my list.

Tiesto (Met him a few times now)
Ayla (AKA DJ Tandu, also works with DJ Taucher)
Ferry Corsten
Seb Fontaine
Thomas Michael (Turned into house though, so I dont like as much, but he still rox)

PS: if you havent heard of Gatecrasher, then go educate yourself and dl some sets.

Just for all yaz I will try to mix up a set and make it availible for DL.

lol..ummmm........................:ugh: :loco: that was a little too deep ....lol
the brainwash shit...lol..
it is part true though, the part of the brain wash people, they dont go for the party, they just go to get fucked up sit around in the corners, or stand waiving....
Just had a discussion with a buddy about that the other day...you can tell who are is there for the music and to dance, and who is there for the drugs and to follow the cool DJ.
...
So yea the trance scene is kinda spoiled in the US, cuz of that, it the easiest style of music to start liking and get into..
But I guess as long as you keep your mind straight and know why you go to partys, it'll always be good..
anyways, what kinda partys are there isn Saint Louis Missouri?
I was there and didnt see anything for like 5 months...

By the way, In Los Angeles you can still find a pretty big crowd that Still party's like the old days, and really dances, liquid/ break/ cali kickdance style..hehehe
you just need to know where to go and when..a lot of the Undergroudn Raves he are shit..just for little kids that wanna get fucked up...and need a place to hide...You need to know how to select the party's you go to and you will find that right crowd...
Just because the right DJis there it doesnt mean the right crowd will...:coolugh:

Vanguard has great music, greta djs, great sound system, and atmosphere but its full of drunk, playboys,a nd meat market type girls, and they overcrowd the clubs making it impossible to dance...same with Avalon..
I think Circus Disco(Club RED) has the best atmosphere ad space for dancing..and most of the "real scene people" go there, you will see circles of kids dancing to each other..not just waving the djs...lol.. of course there are a bunch of kids just there for the drugs..but it is the place you will find some of the old school type clubs /rave people!

Oakenfold in Oslo takes me back. Trancport is always a favorite.

Around my area in Jax no one listens to techno/trance/vocal trance and that's the way I like it.

i like electronic dance music with a passion. but this rave scene is just ridiculous. anyways back on topic.

its probably not the type of music you guys like but it is definitely in the EDM scene. it is....

Hernan Cattaneo - Sequential

definitely for those looking for deep/tribal/progressive style

[quote=West;524996]Well, for what it is worth, I use to spin.

Dieselboy is alright.
I'm not much into darker/harder DnB .. I'm into the gay jump/clown style.

I've seen planet of the drums numerous times, but I just can't get into it.

I'm more towards TC/Clipz/Grooverider when it comes to DnB.

Iono bout trance, its just too slow for me. Im more into techno *faster beats* Anything under Radikal Techno label is pretty good. ,

heeey finally someone that likes Techno..
Dont get me wrong I love Hard trance...
but German hard techno..is the shit..when "partying hard"

Shit, and then they pretty much disappeared. I havent seen any Radikal Techno made music in years...i kinda miss em...

Then I got hooked on Scooter...:bigok:

Aphrodite and Dieselboys the shit...The last 2 Dieselboy album were so different from his usual shit and made me a hardcore fan now. I mean I used to listen to his shit even back in 99 just cuz he was all over socal. But the last 2, Dungeon Master and Human Resource got so much trance element on it w/ the DnB element mixed in, shit was just ice...

crap I bet WMC was good, so jealous!
I saw Hawtin and Carola were playing the same night and Carola was playing everyday, I'm bummed I wasnt able to go.

if you have any pics fo WMC post 'em up! pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! ;)

fawk man I flipping LOVE techno! hard banging punishing 909 drums of fury techno. not trance. not house. not gabber. I mean I like some tracks in those styles but man there isnt much that get me going besides a good set of hard banging techno, adam beyer, surgeon, mills, armani, bletram, bones, space djz, the advent, oh man the list goes on and on. I used to DJ a lot but the local scene went sour and sold out, became a bar/beer scene and nobody cares about the music anymore. blah. I used to do live PAs with a buddy, hard techno and hard tech-house with a bit of acid or minimal groove to it, man we had a shitload of fun.

anyone remember Gravitational Arch of 10 from Vaporspace? hahaha he lived a few apartments down from me for a few years, super nice dude and wow he had some great stories of the early days, on tour with Moby and how Hawtin is a money hungry asshat... (stole) /sampled spoken word recordings by a local artist for the infamous "so then I blew out the candle" samples on the early Plus8/NovaMute stuff but of course Hawtin goes postal if anyone even records his live sets, wtf, hypocrite.

lol @ the cartoon on trance and rockstar dj's, thats so true. I miss throwing 500 person underground inexpensive music-quality-focused raves, those were the good days.

lol..
ill post some pics when i get them from my girls cam.. but didnt gte that many..i was rollin..and dancing non stop..

There was plenty of drugs floating around, I noticed this the 2nd day after Gabe mentioned it, but there wasn't people completely zoned out and just staring at you.
ahahah, no shitty cuddle puddles in the middle of the dance circles.
There was some great dancers there too, damn. These Europeans don't fuck around when it comes to houuuse.

SO DAMN FUN !

Dancing in the middle of a packed crowd and having the breeze blow by is JUST INDESCRIBABLE.

Nice meeting you Gabe, too.

Hmm I dont think it would be too safe to bring a bunch of modded cars to my street at leave them there for hours, i keep mine behind my garage gates..
I think i camer out the wrong way... I meant if you guys wanted to do like a small meet before the party we could do it on my street because at the party it is horrible party so would be hard to find each other and park near...
i still live in the ghetto, that area isnt the safest..
maybe an idea would be to get together before the party, outside my place (meet) then we could drive together to the parking lot, that way we would prob be all together at the parking! at the event..
I dunno just an idea..

Maybe because he found a sound that people liked and made every song the same way. Or maybe he realized people digg 8th notes and made every song with 8 notes per bar and now every other producer is doing that. Maybe its because he markets himself by wearing a Micky Mouse head when he plays live. Perhaps he just got popular because of internet posting such as these and therefore markets him more?

I honestly hate the guy because I always end up buying his music. My CD case is full of his stuff. His music is good.

Yeah i guess but from what i heard and read not a lot of other dj's like him and bash him all the time.

Plus when he does his sets he does it with Ableton live and restricts other dj's from using it..

So it pretty much mixes itself as i learned how to do it as well so no real skill is used when doing it...

I like him though i love his simple layered synths that he uses..

He just makes 4 tracks on top of another and tweaks the filter and envelope a bit to get his sound..

But from what i read again and saw it's a preset on the MiniMoog so idk...

Its not just dj's basing him. The whole EDM crowd jocks him on tranceaddict all the time. But they represent a small percentage compared to commercial listeners. I do know theres a huge beef between him and Marcus Schossow after he started making songs under the name deadrat6 that made fun of deadmau5's simple style.

The whole Ableton Live thing is debatable. I'd say if you are doing some crazy creative things with it such as what Sasha is doing, then its fine. But if you're just playing two songs one after another at the same beat, you can just do that with two decks and a mixer. Thats when it gets lame.

Very true on the Ableton thing...

Yeah i was reading about the Deadrat6 thing and how he made them make Marcus not perform...

I think the way Mau5 dj's is very easy to me..

What i read on another forum

here's the story: i won a mix contest recently for a slot supporting a night in the uk with deadmau5 headlining.

fantastic i thought and started preparing my set for the big night...until tonight when the manager of the club informs me that deadmau5's agent won't allow any other ableton set-up on the night, only cdj's.

i ask him why a warm-up set sever hours before the main act will cause a problem and inform him the set-up will be tidied away before deadmau5 appears. but he won't budge, stating deadmau5 dosen't want anyone else using ableton when he performs!

Now that is fucked up......

He is the biggest prick on the planet, from what I am told from people that actually delt with him. I will say he is a marketing genius though. Dance music is so similar and you need something to set yourself apart from the rest of the dj/producers.

All I know is I use Live and the mau5 really would have been dead that night if he pulled that shit hours before a set. What is he afraid of someone showing him up that night with better Live skills?

Yeah I have a lot of his music and some of it I actually like.

He came back and said this..

this is pure bullshit. I dont know who makes this nonsense up... let alone why.

i guess im an easy target for this kind of stuff... i have absolutley NO problems with anyone performing how / when / where they want. in fact, i encourage it.

to make a claim that "i dont want this or this" to come from anyone other than me is ludicrious at best...

im very happy for you that youv'e won!, and wish you much success in the future... but if i can give you any advice.... just shrug off drama like this in the future... much easier to enjoy performing music without all the petty details http://forum.ableton.com/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

in the meantime, im going to do my damndest to clear this up for you... nobody should be treated like that m8.

-deadmau5

So i guess he just cleared it up since he was on blast all over the net??

I mean i love his music, but i've heard from a lot of people that he is an asshole and also heard he was bashing BT about shit..

Don't know why he will never ever be on BT's level ever BT is a fucking musical genius he's so perfect when it comes to his stuff never a sloppy track by him ever...

No but i would like to know as i'm listening to it right now...

Something bout this track just puts me in such a cool calm mood

Wow what a mess a what a fucking homo Mau5 is...

It is truly indeed a royalty free loop so what they both used it...

One made it a hit one didn't wow what a fuck head he is...

Then i read where he's bashing all dj's saying we're all middle men and have no talent since anyone can mix two songs with the same BPM at the same time...

Edit: To be honest i like the way the other guy did his....

Wow i just read like everything on it....

He is a fucking asshole...

But i love his music...

Don't know how he made such a big deal out of nothing...

I made a few beats using Kaskade's sound library do i have to ask him before i put it on my Music Myspace...

not like a complete Kaskade rip off but he has a lot of dope drum lines already done i just threw some synths and bass over them...

drum lines I think most sample and re-sample. Only so much 808 909 etc sounds out there. I do a bit of sampling drums but put a compressor or something on it. Mix it up a little. Don't sweat drums. Just stay away from sampling synths leads and shit.

Yeah i know what you mean..

Lately i've been doing a lot of experimenting with Erosion and Redux effects ..

Still wanna know how to use that side chain feature but eh i'll learn...

All Synths i create on my own using Abakos...

yea I like hardstyle.. not hardcore.. thats something different.. hardcore is like happy hardcore..the kiddy rave shit where all the candy your ravers like going to..
hardstyle the stuff that has the hardstyle shuffle/running man dance to it.. is basically hardhouse used to be known as UK hardhouse.

Why do i love all his work even though it's the easiest shit in the world to make for some reason i can't stop listening to him...

Faxing Berlin is like my at peace song that and Jaded, Alone with you and Complications ..

Anyone else love him???

...

his music is great.. He is a douche bag that can suck my dick and before i cum i call his wife and finish up her nose... then ill have her lick my dick clean..

yeah thats how much of a douche he is.

any way .. He is a tallented guy. From the sounds of it you just like Progressive house. look more into it on beatport. Its quite the music for drifting off, thinking, uplifting,etc.. its like the classical music of the edm world lol

Trance in general is classical music with a dance beat.

I've been getting big into prog house these days from producers such as Dinka, Jaytech, Proff, Michael Cassette, Moonbeam, etc. Check out tunes from Anjunadeep.

Las Vegas is the current number one place in the world for electronic music, it recently beat out Miami, and this year passed Ibiza spain in quantity of events/people attending electronic music events and in number of clubs,
so basically any day of the week there is a huge dj spinning, pool parties during the days and clubs at nights.. can't beat that.
but tell me specifically where you would like to go and exactly when and ill be more helpfull.
Los angeles used to be the best for large/rave/concerts but recently some idiot parents and influential people and the media have been ruining it for everyone.
plus the fact that they used to let little kids into the events. so most of the good events moved to Vegas.
however I believe monster massive will still be in los angeles in october.

Baltimore and Philly used to have it going on with EDM, but it seems to have died off in Philly and Baltimore is just rave central now with "mainstram" EDM.

I DJ'd for four years, produced for five.

The mainstream events in Southern California in the summer are Nocturnal Wonderland and if you stretch it... Monster Massive and Escape from Wonderland. Vegas always has EDM DJs performing at various clubs. I've seen Laidback Luke, Tiesto, Afrojack, Aoki, Swedish House Mafia, and Kaskade at the different clubs there. EDC was awesome too.

Don't agree, they've changed they're music quite a bit.

But I see what your saying on the club part. They're more for their own concerts and people who enjoy their music.

dude, you are still using old outdated pandora.. go to digitallyimported.com
or download the application for it(digitally imported) or di.fm
nothing beats it in the electronica category for internet radios.

Gave it a try. I clicked to listen to the House station and I was like yeah yeah, this is good then all of a sudden WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB WTF!!!! Dubstep? Why the fuck they playing that on the House station when Dubstep has its own station. :picardfp:

Kaskade is probably my favorite artist, with my favorite song being "This is how it goes." Also a big fan of the songs that Tiesto and Karen Overton did together.

I've been a fan of dance/techno/whatever music for about ten years now when my buddy in the AirForce turned me on to Digitally Imported back in 01.

lol, relaaax, its a live show, everyday they have about 10 live shows that come on in different channels, it only lasts 1-2 hours.then it goes back to the original style..
so sometimes they have armin van buren playing live but its on the dubstep channel or house dj on the trance channel..
anyways its not like you can pick your style of music on pandora..lol
you have to pick a song or a dj and they pick what they consider to be similar so sometimes i pick a super fast beat trance song, and next song that comes on is super slow housy or some bullshit vocal trance for beginner pop lovign wanna be ravers..
it drives me nuts lol
plus there are about 4 different house music styles for you to pick from in di.fm
you could have simply switched to tribal house, or prog house or hardhouse.

Someone really needs to change the title of this thread to Electric Dance Music or something. There is more to EDM than trance/techno.

Anyhow, to stay on topic, Two biggest up and comers of the year, Avicii and Alesso. I'll give third biggest to Arty.

As for Kaskade, here is a song that made its debut during his Identity tour.

I guess I'll start dropping the newest heat and knowledge up in this thread.

Go Ventures has always been shady in their business dealings and I'm not surprised to find out about Reza's situation with Oak Canyon Park.

Reza is an awesome dude. He is just always in his own god damn world lol. Always treated me well, not his fault with the complications of the contracts being breached. I am sure it is still goin down though. Monster seems like the party choice for trance folks.

ALTRNTV

According to this, there were no contracts, period.

UPDATE: Monster Massive has not held an official contract with any venue for its 2011 incarnation, says a former Go Ventures Inc. employee who requested anonymity. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (where the festival has been held for the past 13 years) turned the group down because a USC-Stanford football game was already booked for Oct. 29.

Since that denial, the former Go Ventures employee said subsequent attempts at securing an alternate venue led to a string of denials. Early this year, Go Ventures set its sights on becoming the Port of Los Angeles' official event organizer and promoter. "They thought they were a shoo-in considering they put on some of the largest raves in the country," the anonymous employee said, adding the company planned to hold Monster Massive at the Port once it was given the job. This was a multimonth application process.

In April, headliner Armin van Buuren's management team requested to see Monster Massive's venue. Often dubbed the "No. 1 DJ in the world," van Buuren and his management were told when Go Ventures booked them that Monster Massive would be held at the Port of Los Angeles, even though the management company hadn't yet secured a contract with the Port for the event.

There's a lot more in the link.

Dude, they fucking dropped the ball big time!!!

No other big dj will want to schedule with them after this lol

they are going to have to throw some bomb free parties or at low cost to try to recapture the majority of the crowd.
on another note:

One thing I dont understand is the rediculous prices of these events..seriously??? $70for Reg-150 bucks for vip??
I remember in 05 when tickets were $35 for EDC/monster/noct.
top dj's charge $15-20k to spin and the rent for some of these locations is under $10000.per night
