I just got a 92 240sx and i was checkin out the engine cause i thought it should have more power than it does. I had the engine running and i was pulling each plug to see if any of them didnt effect the idle. It looks like the number 3 wire doesn't effect the idle at all. I am thinking it is an ignition problem, I need some help pinpointing the exact problem.

Have you run a compression test? What about checking the distributor and/or replacing wires and plugs? Check the injectors for their ticking which is normal. And do not pass up inspection on the coil itself. This is just some stuff to get started, let me know if you need more and I can get more in depth..:)

I just replaced the distributer cap and rotar. The plug wires are i believe only a year or two old and i am about to go check the plugs and injectors. I have not run a compression test yet. How do i go about checking the coil itself?

Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.
Check resistance on the two male connectors on the Ignition coil.
Resistance should be around .7 ohms.
If its no where close to .7 ohms replace it.
