My cluster lights (the ones that illuminate the speedometer and tach) are constantly on when my headlights are off, but when i flip the switch to turn me nighttime running lights on my tach lights turn off.. I've been trying to sort this problem for some time now. Any inputs?
Thanks

Sounds like the wires are backwards from the switch to the cluster somewhere...a wiring diagram might be good. Are the lights on with ignition off?

the lights don't stay on when I take the keys out, but that sounds likely

I just dealt with this last night. I just had to switch around some of the bulb holders around in the back and it fixed it. I dont know what the difference was between the sockets but now I have it where the light on the dash stay off till I turn on the lights and its all lighting up. I just had my lights on when I was switching them and when they were all lit up, it fixed the problem.

Are you using polarity-sensitive bulbs such as LEDs? If yes, the bulbs are installed backwards.

good thread, this is probably why my cluster is always on lol. I must have installed the LEDs backwards

Huh, so if there is a darker spot on my cluster (the section in the middle) the reason for this could be the bulb is backwards? Like physically take the bulb out and flip it in the socket or just flip the socket? Or does either work, sorry if this seems like a dumb question, I am electronically retarded.
