I bought the larger 1 1/16" 300zx brake master cylinder. I had to remove a plug from one of the 3 holes to plug in my two front brake lines. It was missing a small black "something" inside the hole. It seems to be the part that actually makes the seal with the brake line. Is it important to have? I can't seem to get one out of my old cylinder.
Any thoughts?

Yes it is important to have in order to have a proper seal with the brake line.
The item you need is a small steel insert which you pop into the master cylinder, you can get the plug from a couple places on your 240. You can cut open the old master cylinder and remove one of the plugs- not my favorite idea. Or you can remove the clutch dampner under the car (just gently bend the clutch hardline to meet the slave cylinder line and plug them directly into each other), the clutch dampner block has two of those inserts in it.
So far I have not seen anyone find a source for these plugs except whats mentioned above.

Thanks, I am converting from auto to manual, so I have no clutch dampner. I guess I will have to cut open my old MC.

I have found a place that has the small steel(it is actually brass) insert! C.H. Topping. It is a brake specialty place in Long Beach, Ca. It was only a few bucks. Can get more for those that aren't in the area. No more hacking the MC and not getting the core charge back.

I just used a 86 s12 M/C. 15/16, and you don't have to worry about any plugs or fittings.

Do that, make a thread, get it stickied. I'm sick of seeing people cut open their MC's to get a 2 cent fitting.

Orme Brothers hose and fittings also have the adapter that you need to make the conversion. They also make killer 300zx brake conversion SS lines for 240sx.
