Can you explain your self? Yes they are getting out of control with the action scenes but still cool to watch especially since these movies are what started the rise of the import scene in the states.

I just accept them as entertainment. I was 16-17 when the first one came out, and from all the time playing gran turismo and reading magazines, i used to rant about all the problems. But now they are just entertaining action movies. They moved away from the import street racing stuff.

Looks even more ridiculous than the other ones. Probably will see this one as well. Best part is going to the theaters and seeing all the Civics and Mustangs rip out of there after seeing Brian O'Connor shift 3000 times.

I think of these movies as Action Comedies where the characters sometimes drive "tuner" cars haha.

I proudly fall into that category then. While we're at it, I'll have the tuna, no crust. R.i.p. Brian Earl Spilner aka the Buster

If I can be really honest, I enjoy these movies less the further they move away from the actual car scene. Yes, they are a higher quality of action movie than earlier in the franchise but now... they're just generic action movie fodder. The last 2 movies I saw in the theater, the parking lot didn't look at a car show the way it used to back in the day. It's just not the same. The franchise isn't the love letter to car enthusiasts that it used to be. But every body has to grow up sometime.

since these movies are what started the rise of the import scene in the states.

um i totally disagree with this. the import "scene" was already on the rise and clearly established. hence why the first movie was made as they already had their target audience. i believe anyone that is my age would clearly see this.

back then you could also do anything you wanted to your car and not be called a ricer for it even though most started out as pretty much ricers. Now theres rules.R.I.P 90,s tuner scene.

i also disagree with this. back then "ricers" were still called "ricers". tho now days alot of the things "ricers" were made fun of or targeted for are "accepted" by the younger people coming up behind the older guys.

While I see where you're coming from....the early 20's guys on the forum including myself were ~10 when the first one came out lol. Tough to be OG tuner status when you're 10.

I think these movies have gotten better and better the further away they get from the tuner appeal and more into action movie entertainment, from Rio onward. Back when the first movie came out it brought some embarrassment to me driving my car. I made sure I didn't happen to drive near some theater and accidentally get caught up in the middle of the dip shit scene. But the one thing about these movies that made them so fucken stupid, even more then what people did with their cars outside the theaters, was the idea of killing one of the main characters then making up some retarded story to bring that person back in the next movie. I for one am glad there's one character that's been killed off for good.

Exactly how I feel..when the first one came out I didn't even have a license so I'm not OG status I guess but from what I've seen that movie is what mainly started it all for the import guys in my opinion.yes there was people before the movie in the scene but nothing like it was after.

Not sure if I understood you but did you say your glad Paul walker died in real life just because of what character he played in a movie?

They are not filling any roles in other movies. They were filling some scene for this movie and had Paul Walker's face applied via CGI along with a voice actor to speak the lines.

these movies did not start the import scene lol. They started the fucktard ricer scene. No, it didn't even do that. It just made the ricers have more "acceptance" so to speak. But it created a whole new wave of ricers because they wanted to be like FnF. Just like when Eminem came out. The wigger population damn near doubled.

I have only seen one and a half of the movies. 1 and 2. But what threw it for me was, it was supposed to be about cars etc. What I saw was a bunch of riced out bullshit. The movies themselves were terrible. Acting, plot, etc. It was one of those movies that physically made me feel uncomfortable. You know when its so bad or cheesy it makes you feel bad on your own couch and no one else is around. That is the feelings the movies gave me lol.

1. crappy cars X
2. Shitty acting and story X.
3. No titties to make up for crappy acting (take a note from terrible scary movies) X

3 strikes your out. Never looked back.

I mean go home and download option or watch fast n furious. It's like one extreme to the other. If you were actually INTO imports back then, you couldn't stand these movies at all. Because they pretty much went against everything you would enjoy about import cars. Maybe it was worse if you were a nissan guy. Nissan wasn't even that huge in the states to be honest at that time. The 240 was barely just starting to get noticed. It was just hondas and eclipses back then. Lets not forget the stealth owners lololol. I've just always been a nissan person. Nothing else really. So it was all japan videos etc at that time for a nissan enthusiast. To go from the real shit to riced out movie was just not entertaining or attention grabbing. My opinion. I was 17/18 when that movie came out also. So I was right in the middle of the douchebag ricer age group.

anything after that has just been typical action movie garbage lol

Agreed. The first one is nostalgic & so terrible that it's fun to watch. But I think Tokyo Dirft has a bit of nostalgia attached to it for the drift fans. I think that one was really the series' last love letter to actual car enthusiasts. The rest are just action fodder with cool cars sprinkled in.

See, I'm on the other side of the ball here. I think now that they're just a bunch of loud action flicks with good looking actors surrounded by excessive amounts of explosions, gunfire, and fight sequences, they're actually fun to watch.

When each of the first three came out I absolutely hated the franchise because I felt it was a piss-poor depiction of automotive enthusiasts. I hated all of the APC/Wings West/TruGlo Hot Import Nights stuff it promoted, I hated that it made anyone who was into sport compacts look like a bunch of strung out raver rejects. It didn't speak true to my experience growing up around proper race & show vehicles and when Tokyo Drift came along... forget about it. I joked with my dad when the movie title was announced that if ever I was going to sell the 240, it would be outside of the theater on opening night for well more than it was worth to some hyped up kid who suddenly had to have a 'drift car.'

Now don't get me wrong, I can watch the movies now through the haze of nostalgia, to when it seemed like every 3rd driveway in Southern CA had a modified import in it. Think back to the hype surrounding the release of the Evo and STi in the states finally, and all the reckless crap me and my friends used to do back in high school around the time the movies were released because they are a mental time machine. But then again, so are my old Incubus albums.

In short, I'm excited to see this one, but it's the first movie in the series that I've ever actually considered seeing in the theaters. If I do, I'm sure it'll be after all the initial hype has gone down during the first couple of weeks of it's release.

Over the top action, cheesy plot and great monologue at the end.

Overall it was an entertaining film.

I wish they would stop it with 7, but money talks and this film is already at $800 million worldwide at the time of this post. Sequel(s) are a sure thing.

The first one was cheesy, but entertaining since it was a first of its kind.

The rest were shit, until they came with the one in Brazil. None of that ridiculous flying across buildings, 360 fakey gas cap grabs in the air - while brian and dom switch seats shooting nos grenades at the same time shit. It was down to earth, stunt filled, and had a decent plot.

Now they made 6 and suddenly the F&F franchise seemed to grab some traction....IT was going pretty well, until the flying across the bridge nonsense. I dunno why they decided to go back to that over the top ridiculous crap, after finding so much success with the "hollywood believable" formula they went with Fast5.

I can only imagine how nauseating ridiculous they are going to go with Fast7. Already saw the flying across 2 building scene in the trailer.

I have to agree with this guy, the import "scene", if you want to call it that, was already there. The original took the scene and fucked it all up, I remember reading an issue of Super Street covering the movie before it came and I was like WTF is this shit?

A fucking robot blasted on the side of a car? Really? Who the fuck does/did that?

Given they do have some entertainment value, they in no way do justice to real car enthusiasts.
