kinda simple question, but just wanted to know if anyone has one and if they are satisfied with the quality.. and if they could post pics of them. Im really debating either to do this or not.

A while back there was a guy on ebay (forget his name now, sorry) who sold these things weekly. I checked his feedback and emailed about 10 ppl he'd done business with on these wings. Everyone who wrote me back (about 6) said that the build quality was pretty decent. One mentioned that they could use some fine sanding before install, but in general, the responses were very positive. I think there's really only maybe 5 manufacturers or so that make hte knockoffs... all sell for around $100. It's lighter than actual nissan stuff, but not quite the quality.
Sounds like you get what you pay for, but in this case you're probably getting the better end of the deal, price vs. quality.
I'm trying to find a distrib. for the GP Sports G4 mini spoiler myself :)

i got one of them a little over a year ago and its not bad. when i recieved it after shipping, it had a small crack on the underside of it. all in all, it was pretty cheap and i have gotten a lot of compliments on it.

thanks for the pics, appreciate it.
Was wondering, did you just use best judgement on the location of the wing? I was thinking if I would be picky and try to mount it 100% near what the oem kouki was at..

That wing looks pretty nice, and it sounds like the quality is decent. Now you just need to get some Viagra for your antenna and you'll be set. I've considered putting that wing on my coupe a couple times, but only if I do a Kouki-style front bumper.

yeah, i like the spoiler, hate my current foam ones, i'm pretty sure i have to repaint my hatch if i do replace it, can't imagine what it looks like after all these years...

I got one of the type x replicas off eBay a while back. The quality is really good for the price. I paid like $125 or something, and it looks really nice. Just haven't installed it yet...
Do you guys think combining the kouki rear end (spoiler and tails) with a chuki front end (with chuki bumper lenses) is a little off/non-matching? It looks good and everything, but it doesn't really fit...

hehe AAA240sx, i was just thinking that cuz i got kouki tails.... but i might just get the kouki front soon...

In most cases if the quality isnt THAT great its still cheaper to fix and mount than buying OEM stuff. Whats the worse that could happen ? you pay $100 and the thing gets cracked and the bodyshop needs a little bondo to seal it before painting it.

hey no problem. yeah just kinda put it wherever i thought it would look best.
AAA240sx: i don't think itd be a problem at all. ive got the kouki tails and spoiler on my car and its a zenki...thats even further from how it's supposed to be.

picked my OEM Typex spoiler up for $170. The ebay one after shipping would be $140.
The OEM one is already pretty light. For $30 more it is worth it for me to get the OEM one. Fiberglass is not as durable and I know the OEM one is quality.

Cuz, I think the replica is actually a little bigger. I have pics of mine mounted up, I'll post if i can find it in one of my floppys.

Yea, I got a replica wing from ebay too. I believe I bought it from renova auto (can't remember the exact name). The quality was very good. I had planned on putting on a kouki 180sx front bumper/sides/rear valence, since I had already put the wing and tail lights on, but I found it hard to put more money into body stuff when I could put the money into suspension or engine stuffs.
This was my car http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290313147
91 front with the late model 180 wing and lights
My opinion = 180sx zenki/chuki look the best without the wing. Kouki can "go both ways" and still look nice

-edit- Did anyone have a problem getting the trunk to stay up after they put the wing on? I think my trunk struts were just worn out so I was never sure if good struts would be capable of holding it up.

How hard is it to mount? Does it block any vision on the fastback?
AAA240SX
07-29-2004, 08:35 AM
Johann: I bought new struts and it holds it up a lot better. Before it would stay up and close very slowly. Nows its str8t. Still can't find pics...o well...
Ghettokracker: The installation is fairly simple: primer/paint, drill holes, and screw in. from the bottom. Renova Auto on ebay will give you these neat marking templates that make drilling easy as hell...
Everyone: What do you all think of combining the kouki spoiler with the GP Sports Mini Roof Spoiler?
Looks clean to me...

Here's a cheap alternative...I think it looks like smaller, rounded "Type-X" wing (maybe that's a stretch, but it's similar style...).
'95 Mustang GT spoiler on S13 hatch:
http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/S13/spoiler/S13_spoiler-5.jpg
S13 wing #2 (http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/S13/spoiler/S13_spoiler-2.jpg)
S13 wing #3 (http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/S13/spoiler/S13_spoiler-3.jpg)
S13 wing #4 (http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/S13/spoiler/S13_spoiler-4.jpg)
S13 wing #5 (http://www.ka24development.com/file_images/S13/spoiler/S13_spoiler-7.jpg)
Some like it, some don't...I think it fits the lines well, and was cheap.
Better than no wing, for sure...
- - - - -
And "bob marley" - My hatch now closes on me all the time...struts were fine with no extra weight, but even the light wing makes it drop.

i was just goign to ask the same thing. the front bumper is the Uras kouki replica. it accepts 180sx/s13 silvia zenki turn signals.
where did you get it though? is it urethane or frp?

so i'm assuming that the spoiler from ebay will mount up the same holes for people with factory spoilers (the spongy/foamy ones)?
bob marley
07-29-2004, 12:10 PM
Yea, it is the URAS/Monkey Magic N+ front in frp. I got it from URAS ;) .
Actually, I got it from RareTrick. I never put it on, and I sold the blue 240 so I'm either going to sell it or get another s13 and put it on.
The spoiler is not hard to mount at all. You line it up and drill 4 holes. The guy I bought mine from even gave me the screws and washers. Just make sure it is lined up well, you wouldn't want it crooked. I'm not sure how the stock spoiler mounts because mine was a base model, but this wing is bolted on with 2 screws on either side of the trunk.
About how much did new struts cost for the trunk?
Orion - Nice car.
Johann
How much diud you sell the blue 240 for? How much did the paintjob cost, it looked pretty good. That supra needs more pics though.

i havent had any problems getting the hatch to stay up with the wing on...maybe your struts are just worn out.
ghettokracker- not really any problems with vision being blocked...although it is sometimes hard to tell if cars have a lightbar on top :)
wei240- it wont mount up in the same holes as the stock foam spoiler. that spoiler actually has like 10 or 12 holes...its a real pain in the ass.

hey i dont blame you. i went ahead and did it without that knowledge...i dont see why Nissan felt the need to bolt the foam spoiler in to the hatch in 12 different places.

I always thought that wing looked out of place on 240's without at least a lip, and sideskirt..

becuase it would rip to shit at high speeds. :wiggle:
foam is gay.

I got my wing from Autoimaging.... It was a 300$ replica... It's good, it's not perfect... but it's better than the foamer. ;)

i just dont think zenki 240s look right at all without a lip...wing or no wing.

Kouki wings are nice.... only with a kouki or low kit, and kouki tailights. the look like ass on cars without kits.
The pics you guys showed are not bad. I've seen really bad knockoffs that are too short and too narrow.
M-sports extra wide and extra high wing owns all.

I'm running full CWest (SS, Frnt, & Rear Lip) made for the Zenki model. Not the Kouki add-ons.
I just thought it would be weird for me to add the kouki rear end. On car with a kit made for the Zenki model. Mayb I'm just stupid - or self-conscience, small things like that bother me.
I really like the GP Sports Mini Wings for the S13 over the Kouki style. It makes it smoother...

IMHO the GP Sports G4 mini spoiler 0wnz all, but I can't find it for less than $400!!!! grrr. If I could find it for a reasonable price, I'd buy it this second.

Yoshi: I'm down for selling my kouki wing (since it's not on) any day man, i'm sure some1 here will want it - cuz its "JDMTIZZZZITE" (<--This word should be in the dictionary now).
But, if you can track down the G4 Set, Roof and Trunk, that isn't the price of an FMIC...I'll get it with you...it's just so juicy....
matta o fack, i saw a replica of the G4 in carbon fiber that sold on eBay for $175 shipped. It looked good, but i just don't trust that shit...o well...

im sorry orion but that wing encourages probe confusion to me thats all i could think of, it really just makes the car look more like a damn probe! i used to hate the 180 wing but im starting to love it, i wonder how functional it could be though... has the stock one actually proven and windtunnel designed to do something or just look nice?
